I'm the worst mommy EVER!

I need some support here. I am feeling like an AWFUL Mom.

My DD asked if she could watch her baby videos today. I said Ok, and sat and watched with her.

I am ashamed to admit- I miss that baby.

My DD is five now, and in that "stage" where she looks a little awkward ( Skinny as a rail, large head..lol) And she is SOOOO smart that it's scary. Too smart actually. It's kind of " dorky." And being five, she is testing EVERY limit out there. I find myself ALWAYS yelling at her- because she is just in that 'annoying' stage. She talks to hear her own voice, and is always babbling and jabbering about something. I love her. I REALLY do. And I know she will outgrow this phase, but I was crying watching the videos because I miss that little baby. I KNOW it's the same baby. but it doesn't seem like it.

In the video, she was 8-13 months old, and just so happy, and bald and CUTE! She was jumping in her bouncer, laughing, and just being the cutest thing. I wanted to crawl into the TV and grab that baby just to bite her.

Is this normal or should I call DCF to come get my kids??

Welllllll... if you are anything like me, the camera came out WHEN the kids were being cute. LOL.

Try to remember (I know it's hard!)... the crying when you couldn't figure out what they wanted, the night feedings, the diapers, and so on and on and on...

Every age has it's bads and goods, right?

I cured myself by babysitting a friend's baby for a year... 9 1/2 hours a day (without the nights... thought it would be easy!). I was so exhausted and ready for it to end when she finally put her into a group daycare.

And in five more years you'll be wishing she was in her awkward 5 year old stage, instead of the preteen stage! I think we all wish them to grow out of whatever stage they are in and then once it's gone we miss it.

Like Cuthie said we just don't tape the bad parts, so all of the memories are of the good things, it's easy to miss that.

I can't wait until my 3 year old is at the stage where she goes in her room just to get away from me, boy I could use a little space these days. Then when she does, I'll be wishing for these days when all she wants to do is sit with me on the couch.

Like I told you earlier, enjoy each stage. Soon she'll be 17 and climbing out the window at night!

Just remember when they grow up and leave then you will really miss them. These are the best years.

I know, I didn't believe them either when they told me that! LOL

Last year after my Dad died, we brought some old videos home and when I watched my dd's as babies on them I cried like crazy. I love them now, but yes, I admit, I miss my babies. Plus, I don't know where the time went. It seems like yesterday they were little and now are both in their twenties, living in different states. Makes me feel MY age, too, which may be part of the problem.

YOU ARE NOT A TERRIBLE MOM! You are nastalgic, thinking about the past. as others have said; just wait you will look back and miss this skinny awkward little lady.
Our eye opener was the first trip unannounced to our youngest son at college. The apartment door wasn't locked... it was a Friday,11:30 a.m. Their were people (boys and girls) sleeping on couches and chairs in the living room, beer cans all over the room, and a large garbage can (one you would have outside to hold all your trash) overflowing with beer cans. When we woke our son up and talked about the situation his WRONG answer was, "I just emptied that garbage can yesterday." This was not the way he was raised, not the way we live, but we felt a little helpless because our major rule was a 3.00 average of above each grade period. He was meeting that so we just spent the day with him, took him to dinner and left. We learned our lesson and only visit when we announce we are coming.

Mine are 7 and 4 about to be 8 and 5 in about 3 weeks .. and I miss my babies also .. my 8 year makes noises .. animal, etc ALL THE TIME ..especially in the shower where it echos through MY WHOLE HOUSE ! My 5 year old is just her own littlke person .. she thinks that she is 25 and like yours smart to the point that it is scarey ... and on the days taht I miss my babies .. i remind myself .. at this age even though we think they are weird they most likely think the same thing about US and at this age ,. they can potty with out help , eat with out help, wash with out help

You are normal .. now if you were thinking about putting them i a box and shipping them to me .. then we may have to consult with DCF !!!

Love you girl !!!
