Pork/Pretty Gross!

On our local news tonight they showed a clip off of Youtube. They put a peice of pork in a bowl and poured Coke on top of it, after 2 mins. worms started to come out of the pork. Ladys make sure you cook your pork well done. You can probably search on Youtube if you want to see the clip. It's nasty.

I'm thinking that the 2 minute time lapse might have been more like 2 days! Some of the people tried it and posted in their comments that there were no worms after a few hours.

I watched another one where they guy let it sit for a couple of hours -- no worms.

I am surprised that the news didn't try it before the played the You Tube video though???

It was pretty gross and it was at dinner time. I will think of that every time I eat pork now

Pork and salmon can have worms. That's not saying all cuts of pork or salmon will, but you should always thoroughly cook both.

There is always the possibility the video is faked -- the "time lapse" allows for all sort of creativity!

By the way, what does this video tell us about Coke? ☺

I was wondering that too... LOL. I have seen an entire writeup with all of the uses of Coca-Cola (found online via Google.com?).

One use was beef tenderizing and it is supposed to make for the moistest baked ham???

MCLeaderCiCi had an interesting writeup one day on all of the uses of Coke in regards to toilets!!!:

Coke cleans auto battery connections. True story: My connections were corroded and the car wouldn't start. My dad tried to clean them, but the car still wouldn't start. I told him what others suggested ~ pour a can of coke over them. Car started right up.

Looked this up on snopes.com, an urban legend site and they said it is not true. Follow this link to read about it.

Okay Cuthie, one of my friends takes pork steaks or country style ribs and marinates them in a solution of coca-cola ( or generic equvalent) honey, and brown sugar. She leaves them in this solution overnight then bakes them in the oven for several hours at low temp, then finishes them on the barbecue for that smoky grilled flavor. I tried this and they were awesome - tender and juicy!

Thanks RCsilverspring, it seemed to me to have the ring of an urban legend. Though you might not be able to say without a doubt that some pork, somewhere, may have worms, by and large our pork is fairly safe from them!

The linked video didn't work but I found one that looked like it might have been the original... and it looked like someone shoved pieces of rice in the pork before pouring the soda on, there were visible white spots before AND after the Coke. Was this the same video you all watched? They didn't move (of course), you could just see them better after.
