Question please Help me....

ok, yesterday, i started feeling like my throat was hurting, so i kinda knew i was probably getting sick.

Today, I been running a fever, got a fever blister the size of kingdom come, my ears hurt, my throat hurts, my head hurts, BUT here's what I need help with. My skin hurts. not my bones or joints, but literally my skin. when i touch myself or someone else touches me, no matter how lightly, my skin feels like a burning sensation and it hurts. I have never experienced anything like that and I googled it, but didn't really come up with anything.

Have you experienced it or no what i am talking bout? Tell me something, I am starting to worry.

Sounds like the flu to me (my skin got REALLY sensitive when I had the flu!) but then .... they took the MD away from me . I would go and see a doctor.

I hope you'll feel better really soon!

Are you on antibiotics?? Or a new medication -- it can be a reaction -- Go see your Dr. We had a patient that had a terrible reaction to an antibiotic - all of her skin received a chemical type burn - she was hospitalized for a while.

Sounds like the flu...call your MD there is Meds that if started with in 48 (?) hours can shorten the duration I believe.

Hope you are on the mend soon!

on no meds at all. not even tylenol.....that's why i am so concerned.
no diarrhea, no vomit.......just fever, sore throat, both ears hurt, head hurt and the burning sensation on the skin.

i have no health insurance and no money, so going to the doctor isnt an option unless i am on my death bed.

suggestions thus far are appreciated and others welcome.

thank you

It also sounds like it may be shingles. Forget the health insurance issue. The sooner you get treatment, the sooner you will be better.

I am going to agree with snow1459 about sounds like shingles thats EXACTLY how it started with my DH and he was miserable. Forget the health insurance issue, you need to be seen before you get too sick you become seriously ill or worse.

All the symptom except the skin sounds like strep throat to me. The skin has me baffled.

I don't want to scare you but you really need to see a doctor! It could be shingles or possiable cellulitis both can cause skin to be tender.

cellulitis is also a possibility. The pain you feel is probably not skin but nerve pain. the nerve endings are right under the skin and if they are inflamed it can feel like skin pain.

I read today that you can develop a rash with strep. Maybe beginning stages of it? My mom just had the shingles and it isn't anything to mess around with, go to the doctor and keep us posted.

wed update

today, my skin sensations seem to have dissappeared. HOWEVER, this thing I called a fever blister is huge. It has spread all the way down my chin on one side and has now developed on the other side and seems to be growing as well. It is also on the inside of my lips. My throat and ears still hurt.

I called the doctor and they dont have any openings, but will call me on stand by if anything opens up.

But with the disappearance of the skin sensation and the spread of the blister thingy, I am completely oblivious to what has gotten a hold of me. Does this still sound like the previous suggestions? or anyone else have a clue??

Sounds like trip to the ER wouldn't be a bad idea. If your Dr. can't see you.

Or perhaps a walk in clinic which would probably be cheaper than the ER.

could still be shingles. Cellulitus usually does not have actual sores, but it does spread. Herpes, Which is a form of shingles? At any rate, not the flu and worth a trip to the ER or clinic or a DR who can see you today.

I have 2 sisters- One had a staph infection while in the hostipal blisters form on her body.

My other sister was refusing to go in ,,she had Cellulitis..her skin had burning sensation to it , she also had a headache ..I can't remember what else.....When her & dh woke he called ambulance to come get her since she was still refusing to go in....her face swell up like someone punch the heck out her. The paramedic had to convince her to go in.

From what I found on the web Cellulitis can have blisters. and staph can affect your lymp nodes & ears.I'm really concern the blister are spreading. I would call back the doctor and see if they can squeeze you in..If they can't I would go to a walk in clinic or the ER..I'm not a nurse nor do I have any medical background..But I am worried you might have serious infection going on.

Staph infection
A swollen, red, and sore area on the skin that may drain pus or other fluid.
A warm feeling around the infected area.
Fever, chills, headache, and muscle aches.
Pain in the chest.
Fatigue.
General feeling of sickness.
If you have these symptoms, see your doctor immediately.

************************************************** *

Cellulitis (sel-u-LI-tis) is a potentially serious bacterial infection of your skin. Cellulitis appears as a swollen, red area of skin that feels hot and tender, and it may spread rapidly.

Skin on the face or lower legs is most commonly affected by this infection, though cellulitis can occur on any part of your body. Cellulitis may be superficial — affecting only the surface of your skin — but cellulitis may also affect the tissues underlying your skin and can spread to your lymph nodes and bloodstream.

Left untreated, the spreading bacterial infection may rapidly turn into a life-threatening condition. That's why it's important to recognize the signs and symptoms of cellulitis and to seek immediate medical attention if they occur.

Signs and symptoms
Cellulitis may result in skin that is:

Red
Swollen
Tender
Warm
The changes in your skin may be accompanied by a fever. Over time, the area of redness tends to expand. Small red spots may appear on top of the reddened skin, and less commonly, small blisters may form and burst.

My brother-in-law had a horrible staph infection a few weeks ago... It sounds similar but yes, it does also sound like shingles???

Yes, I'd for sure go in and get this checked. I'm not a 'go to the doctor' person AT ALL but for this, I think I'd be on my way. They would get to the bottom of it and at least try to put a halt to it's spreading farther.

I hope you feel better! Ouch.

What are the symptoms of shingles?
Shingles causes a painful, blistering rash. Sometimes the pain starts a few days before the rash appears.

The rash begins with reddish bumps. In a few days, these bumps turn into blisters. You might feel a stinging or burning pain. The rash may wrap around your back and chest, or it may be on one side of your face.

The blisters usually crust over and fall off after 7 to 10 days. You may see changes in the color of your skin when the scabs fall off. In bad cases of shingles, these color changes last forever.

Even though the rash gets better or goes away in a few weeks, the pain may last longer. In most people, the pain goes away in 1 to 3 months.

Shingles can also affect your eyes, causing swollen eyelids, redness and pain. Shingles of the eye can cause scars that affect your vision. It can also lead to glaucoma later in life. Glaucoma is an eye disease that can cause blindness. People who have shingles of the eye should see an eye doctor right away.

I'm confused....why wouldn't you at least take some Tylenol or Motrin?? I know when I get even a slight fever of 99-100, my entire body aches, my skin is tender to the touch- even my hair hurts. Tylenol/Motrin could make you feel a little better. Hope you recover quickly.

Ok, went to doctor and am glad yall convinced me.

It was the early stages of the shingles. I was given meds and hopefully will put the worst symptoms at bay. Doc said I will still experience 'some' of the symptoms, but no where near as badly as I could have. Thank you all for guiding me in the right direction.

As for the poster who asked why I didn't take tylenol or motrin, I just am not a medicine person and dont generally take anything unless forced.

Sounds just like my almost 77 yr. old dad. His idea of taking medicine is to take one regular strength Tylenol. I trust you're not even close to that age?!? There's nothing wrong with taking medicine to help you feel better. The one time I convinced Dad to take Benadryl for his severe allergies, you'd swore I was trying to kill him. However, it did lessen the symptoms, though he wouldn't admit it. My mom told me.

Glad you was able to see a doctor today. I hope you start feeling better soon.

I'm the same way when it comes to medicine. Dh threw a fit when I was trying to pass a Kidney Stone it took me nearly 2 weeks to pass that little stone. I was in pain and was waiting for it to get worst to take the pain killer. I will wait 2 or 3 days before taking a a aleve for a headache also. The only time I take medicine is when the doctor tells me I have too.
