Yesterday afternoon, around 1pm, I started to feel a little queasy. By the time I picked up the kids from school and got home, I ran straight to the bathroom, where I stayed for the majority of the evening. When Scott got home around 4:30pm, he called my doctor, who said I probably had the bug (norovirus) that's been going around. He called in some thing for me (I told him I didn't think it mattered if I took anything or not since I wasn't holding anything down), but I don't think it worked. I had already been downing Pepto and Immodium as fast as I could!Anyway, I was up ALL night, with this stupid thing. I am so tired and weak right now. My doc's office called this morning to check on me, and the nurse told me it had gotten so bad a few weeks ago, that they CLOSED to hospital!!! I went looking, sure enough-- here's the article! http://www.news-record.com/apps/pbcs...0101/702100306 (well, not really closed: "On Thursday, the hospital system made the unusual decision of asking the public to stay away from their facilities unless necessary." In other words, no visitors!) Anyway-- this is not good for me, since my immune system is so shot. According to the article: "An illness such as norovirus is more of a concern among the elderly and others whose immune systems may be compromised. " I'm pretty sure I have nothing left in my stomach at this point, but dang, I'm afraid to eat or drink anything! I know I'll get dehydrated if I don't drink, so I better suck it up and at least drink some water. Ugh... Has anyone else had this thing??? Holly

Not that I know of, since I don't have a doctor to name things, but one of my first experiments with eating chicken left me so sick that I puked all over the bathroom, passed out, and had to be washed off by my husband and carried to bed. That's pretty gross too. At this point, you might want to try some saltines (one or two), something like Gatorade or weak sweet tea, and maybe some good-bacteria yogurt when you feel slightly better. I'd hold off on any more non-prescribed medicines, as I think your body needs to rid itself of this. I hope you heal soon.

Closing to visitors is really more common then you may realize... At least twice a year the flu of some sort will go through the Nursing Home where I worked.... At one point they told staff to stay home, if you felt at all ill.... Its amazong how many people "visit" when they are not feeling good and having the begininnings of something...not sure why.....

Thanks guys-- I got a little nap this morning, ate a half of peice of dry toast, and drank a small cup of Cranberry Juice. (We didn't have any Gatorade in the house.) I'm getting ready to go through the house and Lysol everything. Ugh... I am praying the kids don't get this! (Or my hubby) Holly

I hope you're feeling better soon. You might try regular Coke over crushed ice. Sipping this always helps when I get a stomach bug. Someone once told me the sugar in it as well as the carbonation helps.

We had this in December, first DS, then me, then DH. It was a very violent bug- I never expereinced such strong symptoms like that. It was brutal. It went through our schools like wildfire- very , very contagious. For me it lasted full force about 2 days. The only thing I could drink was room temperature Sprite. DH was the last to get it, and his case was a little milder. My lucky DD did not get it, and boy was she scared after she witnessed what the rest of us went through.
