dont know if it's an option for you, but i went on the depo shot for a year and never once had a period. i understand where u are coming from on the rough periods, i have them also. as for the depression and pms, new studies have found that taking zoloft a week prior to period completely changes the depression for the better. maybe you could look into that. hope this is some help for ya.

Have you ever been checked for endometriosus (sp)? My dd has it and has really painful periods. And it can also cause infertility. It sounds like you really need to see you ob/gyn.

There is something called PMDD which I have seen on the tv alot lately about moodswings and everything heres the site www.pmdd.factsforhealth.org if you do find that you have PMDD their is a birth control pill that mentions, Yaz is the pill, "YAZ® is FDA approved to treat the emotional and physical symptoms of PMDD." Hopefully this helps, now that I think about it I should probably check myself, my husband tells me everytime we see the commercial that thats me!!!

Thank you all for responding. I can't take Zoloft--or anything for that matter, thus the problem. I've been through them all. Trust me. The treatment is much worse than the disease. If that's possible. My main problem today is just trying to suvive this latest period and it just suddenly hit me that there are ways now to not have to go through this every month. Unfortunately, I don't know anything about them and don't have a good GYN to go to. Mine retired and I went to see his replacement and was told some truly horrible things--right to my face (it's irresponsible of me to consider having children at my age-this was a couple weeks ago) Colegirl, I looked at that website and it definitely describes what happened to me yesterday. I literarly felt like I wanted to peel my skin off. I have had anxiety before but have never ever experienced anything like what I did all day long yesterday. Normally the days before my period my depression worsens and my moods worsen (anger, crying, etc. more than usual). Yesterday was so incredibly different. And today I feel 100% better since my period started--at least with the anxiety (it's still there, but lightyears better) .. please keep the suggestions coming...I truly appreciate them. |

since it's "that bad" (please don't take that as dumbing it down) why don't you check into medical attention in Bakersfield (I googled your town and Bakersfield popped up as the closest city with TONS of options. Also, check reviews in the area for a doctor recommendation after you find out if they take your insurance. Going to the next town over may just save your sanity! The specialty doctors generally practice in the big city and can help you with your problems better than the doctor who is caring for you (poorly, it sounds like) right now. Don't feel bad about changing doctors. This is your health, your family, and your life. We pay doctor's for their services and educational knowledge. It sounds like your doctor needs to get off her high horse and learn some bedside manner. Have you considered filing a complaint? One or two visits to a obgyn who knows what they're doing isn't going to break the bank. Make the sacrifice now when you're young and not later when it's too late. The big M is not far away and if you want more kids, take control of your health! It's your body and your mind. You need to get healthy! Good luck with your decision.

Definately find a good doctor. You should not have to suffer. I have had female problems for mare than 10 years now resulting in an ovary being removed a year ago. I've had 3 surgeries and the pain I've been through would make a grown man cry!!! I was able to get some control for a while by taking Aleve in a little higher dose than the bottle says. I take 2 instead of just 1 and that alleviates my pain. I got so bad right before my surgery that I had to tak vicodin for the pain. I have had several ovarian cysts with the last one being a solid cyst that took my ovary. I've not had problems with fertility. Have not trid. I am 38 soon to be 39 next month and I don't think you are crazy for wanting any more children. I did not have a hysterctomy with my surgery for that reason. I have only one child also who is now 18 I've recently rethought whether I want to start over completely along with the fact that I would be nearly 60 when a new child graduated high school. Just a personal preference now. Anyway, you need to find out what is causing your pain and get that taken care of first. There are lots of treatments out there now. You don't have to suffer. I have heard of Yasmin also and it might be a good option. However, if you don't fix the pain problem, getting pregnant will be very difficult for you in regards to the pain every month. I've finally noticed that my periods are no where near as bad as they were before my last surgery. It was well worth it, not that I had a choice anyway. My hormones are now leveled out and I am having regular periods on my own for the first time in many years!!! I also understand your depression problem. I have it too and there are TONS of meds out there for this too. I can not take Zoloft either because of the side effects I get with it. However none of the other meds do that to me. There are now TONS of anti-depression meds you can try. I know it's not good to take them if you are pregnant but if you are on birth control, keep trying till you find one that works for you. Good Luck and let us know how you are doing. Most of us have been through this.

| I am not to sure about her trying Yasmin, my ob put me on that recently & I would literally have periods that last 15-21 days! Talk about misery... Yasmin has also been in the news recently that is NOT a good source of contraception. Many people have gotten pregnant on Yasmin, they thought it was due to being overweight but they are now finding that it is all people. I spoke to my ob about my issues & she put me on Loestrin 24, I have been taking it for almost 3 months. I love it, my periods now last 1 day LITERALLY, how awesome is that. It says it can be anywhere from 1-3 days, but it is extremely light. It also helped with my pain & moods. Good luck & best wishes, hope you get better soon |

I'm going to try Yaz (got a pack today), as I tend to be depressive. Will try to report back on that, but I'm also going to research the Yasmin reliability issue, as the pills are very similar. Loestrin 24 was no good for my mood, but I did bleed very little. My husband's friend said that taking B12 and vitamin e a week before she was due really helped with pain, so I'm trying that now, and it does seem to be helping. At very least, it can't hurt.
