yes, that was awful. Maybe they should do something like they are doing with the Grease reality show. On that show they tell the bottom two of the girls and the bottom two of the guys and then the JUDGES pick who should go. I think that would help weed out the kids voting for the one they think is cute, etc....

Well, I was searching for a website I found last year that measures the amount of phone calls and "predicts" a winner from that ( http://dialidol.com/asp/predictions/Predictions.asp ) and ran up on another site from last year http://www.votefortheworst.com/--Vote for the Worst website--and they have latched on to Sanjaya now, too. I know last year they picked Chicken Little and he made it into the top 12. Looks like Sanjaya is their new CL!

But, Kevin Covais (aka Chicken Little) didn't make it to the top 10 (and make the tour) so hopefully little Sanjaya won't either. I CANNOT believe he made it another week (Sundance was so much better than him). If Vote For The Worst wins, he may make the tour!

Sabrina was better than Haley. Crazy night.

I would have also liked to see Phil go instead of Jared -- such a cutie pie (not Phil but Jared)!

Many surprises.

Iagree, He's very *prissy* to me. I watched this from the start and saw him and his sister singing, I thought his sister would have been the one that made it this far...NOT HIM. I didnt like him from the moment I saw him . I'm still in shock over all this, I just knew sabrina would be on the finals against Melinda, Haley cant carry a tune in a BUCKET if you ask me, She';s trying way too hard to be the next Carry Underwood. She'll never cut it ever ! Poor Jared. I really liked him I thought he had/ could go far with this. I still think it's turned into *Speed Dialing more than singing. I'm shocked and *Almost affraid to watch next weeks showing. Afrraid who might be cut from being ABLE to sing and not looking *Cute*

I haven't watched this show for a few seasons now but I had to comment because of an article in our local paper yesterday about the Vote for the Worst website that pugsly1234 mentioned above. I had never heard of it until yesterday. It seems that with stuff like this going on the show would realize they need to revamp the voting system to make it more of a true talent contest rather than the circus it sounds like it's become. I'm glad I don't watch it any more - it would just pi$$ me off.

It just proves that this is a popularity contest and nothing more. When tailor hicks won american idol that said a lot to me. I personally think he can't truely sing and that kathryn mcfee was much better then him. It doesn't surprise me that sanja ended up staying as like i said popularity contest nothing more. I really wish they would stop allowing america to vote and allow the judges to vote instead, but i don't forsee that happening as they are making millions with the phone calls and they really don't care who stays or gos.

Y'all know I have been really thinking about this. What would happen say if Sanjaya was to win this ? I'm a FIRM BELIEVER now that ANYTHING can happen.. I mean really who wold want to buy his Cd's. Looking good when one can actually see that person and Just hearing them over a CD is totally different IMHO.Will the people that voted for him really pay money to buy his Cd's ? I cannot for see this myself. Maybe it this was a Mr.Teen contest he might win it, However, I don't know of ANYONE that will buy music all because*they are cute*..

I have said from season 1` that allowing *America* to vote was dumb and to be allowed to vote multi times is just plain STUPID to me. I think it needs a major over haul and if America can still vote limit it to 1 per household. I will never forget last year, my DD was doing a sleep over and the girls all had cell phones and the mother hosting the sleep over had 3 herself. the kids and parents all voted over 300 TIMES for Taylor Hicks.... (there were 13 girls ) Sorry I feel this is a disservice to the singers and to the music biz myself.

We all know by now, it usually #2 that ends up with the most contracts from the music biz, so what will happen if he does make it to the top 2 ? (Sorry I just cannot get over this,) If I thought and I feel most of yall feel this way also,Sanjaya COULD sing or even had a half chance at singing well this might be different that it is. However, I don't even think his OWN parents feel he's good enough to have stayed this long. ( Unless they are the type * My child is perfect and can out do yours anytime type*

Paula about had a fit when she hear the results last night, I looked pretty much like she did when I hear it too.
I really wish AI would limit the voting and this way the truly able to sing could have a fair chance at this. ( Just MHO Mind ya )

This is it exactly. Young teeny bopper girls voting for him like crazy. He is a nice looking kid and yes, he can sing. He just doesn't have enough experiience to compete with some of these other contestants. I hope he comes out of his shell and shows everyone that he deserves to be in the top 12.

Sundance was good, but not great. He would not have lasted that much longer.

I couldn't believe it either. Totally blown away! I think Paula and Simon were really p****ed! Simon again said 'I think people are forgetting this is a singing competition'. After last night I've decided not to watch it anymore this season. I think if the ratings go down enough, perhaps the producers will see a change needs to be made. I think this year they focused too much on the terrible singers and crazy people and didn't really take the time to actually FIND good singers who could actually make it in the competition.

And the personalities -- don't get me started on that -- of these young people! They seem to have no respect for anyone! Most seem like spoiled little brats -- like it's owed to them!!

As far as TAYLOR winning last year -- I think Taylor was a breath of fresh air. He was different and he brought fun and soul back into music. As soon as he walked into that first audition playing his harmonia, I predicted he would win. There was a lot of great talent last year, no doubt. This year is like a high school talent show.

Well I work with a lot of Indians (high-tech) and ran into a couple of groups talking about him at work today and how funny it was that Paula was upset that he moved into the top 12. So maybe he has two categories supporting him.

Personally I thought that Sanjaya, Sundance, Antonella, and Haley were the lowest of the 16....but Sundance and Jared were probably pretty close in talent. Jared was just more appealing.

Well..it IS racist and actually not true. I worked for an Indian family for nearly 10 years and they were professional people as were their friends who are all mostly doctors (they too are Indians). The Indians in my town are mostly doctors or pharmacists plus a few hotel owners. All are professionals and/or business owners (not just 7-11s). But...they are ALL very TIGHTLY knit and I imagine if the Indian population gets behind this boy, the other competitors better get their fans voting!

Between Antonella's "racy" photos and the ruckus that caused, most of the guys not singing that well, the gossip about Paula's alledged substance abuse issue, Kelly Pickler's new "shoes"...well...I don't even know if I'm going to continue watching...I'm just disgusted. ~Lisa

I don't beleive the most talented singer has won any year of AI since Kelly won the first year---to me she was really the only TRUE winner who deserved to win. This show has lost it's talent aspect and has become totally a popularity contest. Now, if they want to revamp and rename it "Who Do You Like", that woould be so much more honest and realistic than the supposed singing contest they portray it to be.

I notice some of you are using the term "Indian" -- there's a difference in people from India and Indian tribes here in the U.S, so it's kind of confusing.

I think the poster who said most of the owners of 7-11 are voting for Sanjaya is probably right. There's a lot of people from India here in this country and many own their own businesses (usually convenience stores). My son is friends with one family who owns a number of convenient stores. However, the individual person doesn't actually OWN the store -- the "Family" owns the store. They're here for a certain amount of years, send money back to the rest of their family in India and then when their time is up here in the U.S., they go back to India and send over other family members to run the stores.

My son's friend said in India they live like kings because of the money they make here in the U.S. His father has even invited my son to go back with them for visits so he can see firsthand what they're talking about.

So if there are lots of people from India (not Indians) voting for Sanjaya, then there's a great possibility that this guy might go all the way with this.

Let's hope not!! If he had the talent, that would be fine; but he doesn't have the talent. Maybe on our board here we could pick one person and call like crazy for the person who really has talent!!

When I typed "Indians", I was referring to "people from India". I did not mean meant Native Americans or American Indians.... People from India often own their own business but are equally likely to be professionals - engineers (who come here under the H1-B visa program), doctors, etc. as the other poster wrote....

BTW, I believe that Sanjaya may be mixed-race.

I too meant "people from India". I referred to them as Indian people because that's the way my employer and his wife referred to themselves and their "Indian friends" (as they would say). The above poster IS correct. My former boss, who is a pharmacist (w/his friends being pharmacists, doctors and hotel owners) came here under the visa program and stayed and later became a US citizen. His wife came to be with him soon after and became a citizen also. But...as stated originally--there are a bunch of them here in the US and I am sure they are full supporters of their guy Sanjaya! With them and the Vote for the Worst people....the other contestants could be in trouble!

I also wondered why Sundance was sent home until I had a group of my DD friends here and they were talking. All of them were happy to have Sundance go home. And the kids are the ones doing the big voting.

First season of watching it for me, but already blown away. My teenage girls think he's not talented at all and so do most of their friends that watch the show. Sundance deserved to be in the top 12. When Simon was asked What did he think happen and he said "The volume was turned down." MINE WAS on that young kid....lol. I don't think he's that good, he can sing to a point but not enough to win this at least I hope so. I think its going to be between Melinda and LaKeisha. Both of those women have the voice!

Anyone else watch American Idol Rewind?? I didn't watch the first season so they were all new to me and I cannot get over how much the caliber of the contestants has improved. Hope this year winds up as good as last year.

ME! I watch it every Saturday night, since there's not much else on. I was saying to DH that we kind of overlooked Kelly Clarkson until they were down to like 5 people. Its nice to re-watch her performances. I also liked Nikki McKibbin. Did you know she's the sister of crazy Toni Ferrari that was on Paradise Hotel??
