just files bankruptcy for the second time. She is 47 years old and has no 401 k or anything. She would make me feel like dirt for hanging my clothes and being cheap. I almost just want to say I told you so for all of her snide remarks that she would make at me when she told me, but instead I just told her how sorry I was to hear that Some people never learn. But the pitty party she is expecting everyone to throw her just isn't going to happen.

Well it seems its always people like that who file BK the ones who couldnt be frugal if thier life depended on it & cant understand why anyone else would be. I feel so bad for her though I cant imagine ever not knowing how to handle my money. I have been a TW my whole life.

You know-Sometimes the last laugh is the best satisfaction. When i was still working at a hospice agency, I was the oddball. The other nurses went to McD's several times a day for a soda, a french fry etc, they all had parties- baskets, home decorating, candles, cookware- you name it, they all went to the tanning bed evey week, and they sported the latest fashion. I was the old stick in the mud who said, " no" to EVERY party, never took lunch, and wore the same old clothes. After 12 years of being on call every other night and every other weekend, I finally got up one day and said, "I am done". I went into work and turned in my one month notice. You should have heard the hullabaloo- "You can't do that!" .... The point was, I could and I did. I never said a word.

Some poeple are just like that. I have a friend that tried to open their own business. They focused on painting walls ans laying carpet when they should have been making the building up to fire code and getting the proper permits to run the business. All the while they were taking money out of their house for the business and putting their kids through private school. They ended up losing everything... their house, their car, even the school. They ended up moving to another city and now the kids are in a poor public school (the one where they used to live was the best in the area).

Then there is us. I am on mycoupons....need I say more?

I know many people who (along the same lines) wear designer clothes have a car that's payments and ins. are more than they can handle and live in rentals. They owe so much on credit cards they will never have a house unless they totally change their ways. Me I buy clothes at least 50% off, have a medium priced car and am buying a house paying a little extra on the mortgage each month with no credit cards.

You are doing the right thing. And I am sure you go to sleep with no bill worries unlike your sister and those other people. I have heard people say they can't sleep at night because of their bills. One lady even laughs that since she can't sleep she often buys stuff on infomercials. HELLO???

It's irresponsible people like your sister who file bankruptcy (and your sister is doing it twice???) that hurt the rest of us by making OUR interest rates go up, etc.

I hope for her sake that this is a wake up call. Just keep living the way you are and maybe this time she'll listen and decide that your ideas aren't so crazy after all. My Dh and I live the same way (frugal) you guys do and we are living on one income. People don't understand how we get to do the things we get to do and its all due to living BELOW your means....and of course SAVING, SAVING, SAVING!!! Seriously I do hope your sister figures it out.
