Sun rash?

Does anyone get sun rash? What do you do to prevent/treat it.

I always get this. I wear light long sleeve shirts and capris. The only way I have found to prevent it is to cover up and on top of that I use sunscreen.

Yes, DH is a fair-skinned red-head and DS is also fair. Even being in the sun just a few spare minutes makes them break out! We have learned to remember to bring the sunscreen everywhere; it's always in my purse, since I never know when we might be caught off-guard. And, living in FL the sun shines "hot" from mid-March til October.

To treat it, we've found that cortisone cream works best. That's the non-Rx suggestion. We have also had good luck with a cream called Topicort -it is by Rx only.

HTH,

I was on vacation in St Pete, Fl. for the month of May and got sun rash. I stayed out of the sun for a few days and it got better. Went out again with lots of sun lotion and got it again. Cleared up after a couple days. Went out with sun OIL and was fine. My trouble ended up being allergic to the sun lotion mixed with the hot sun...not the sun itself. The more I "protected" myself, the worse I got! Go figure!

I don't step outside the house in short sleeves without sunscreen. Usually I get it on my arms, but also on my cheeks. Throughout the whole year, I wear moisturizer with sunscreen which usually helps. Once I have a base tan, that helps a little bit. But some summers, it doesn't matter what I do.
