How about one of those HUGE gift bags that you can put large gifts in (like a bike). I've seen them at Party City or pretty much anywhere that has a decent gift wrap section.

I usually give diapers for a baby gift....I usually wrap them.... maybe do something like wrap ONE pack then put a card or something attached to the package that says I have 'x" amount of 'friends' in my backseat waiting to come to your house.... that way you aren't wrapping all 6-7 of them but she knows you have them for her...

if someone gave me packages of wrapped diapers, i would be extremely grateful.

if someone opened the packages and touched all the diapers to make a cake or anything else out of them, i would throw the whole thing away immediately after the party. no WAY would i use diapers that other people had had their hands all over. gross!

so i would take the safe way out and just put them all in a giant gift bag with a big bow, i think that is fine!

Uh please don't take this personally, not an attack on you, but the baby is gonna PEE and POOP in these, not eat out of them. Who cares if someone touched the outside of them to make a nice decoration??

Can you stack and put a huge bow around them?

You have to have wide ribbon and a huge bow but it would look nice!

DO THE DIAPER CAKE!!! I have made them for showers and they are ALWAYS a hit. People love them. They don't even want to tear them apart because they are so neat. It isn't just diapers you use you can stuff other baby essentials in there too like receiving blankets, rattles, shampoos, soaps. I even decorated one with an Easter theme one time because it was close to easter and used plastic eggs and filled it with candy for the mother. I stuff wash cloths and other stuff in it too.

If it is your SIL I don't hardly think she is going to freak because you put her hands on the baby's diapers, if she did then it would be ridiculous, it isn't like the little one is going to eat dinner off of it or use it for a napkin.

I think these cakes are really fun to make I love doing them.

How about just getting a giant box and put all of them in it and wrap that? She would have NO idea what was in it and I think the fact that it was all diapers would get a laugh?

Good ideas already given.

Smile Big Box

I thought of a big box
But she would be dissapointed it was not a major item off of her lists from 4 different stores

How many stores do most people register at?
4 seems like a lot. or is that just me?
Thanks Suzanne

Disappointed? Major item means major expense usually. Personally, I dislike the registering thing all together. It simply gets people into the store, the store makes out and sometimes they don't get the time crossed off so there are duplicates anyway.

I give whatever is appropriate for the occasion and usually do it much less expensive than anyone could believe by staying out of their stores they've registered at.

Disappointed? What ever happened to celebrating the occasion and being grateful for the people there and their gifts from the heart? Diapers are a great gift, it's not like you are giving her something inappropriate !!!

Smile Baby shower

I got her a bunch of diapers and baby care stuff
desitin wash powder wipes and stuff with sales and cupons
I think I got her a whole lot
But she seems like she wouldn't truly appreciate the practicality of all the stuff because it wasn't a major purchase from one of her lists
She seems materialistic to me =(
Thanks
Suzanne

Well if she isn't grateful for what you can do then that is just to bad. You do what you can and that is all to it. I love the diaper cake idea as someone made one for me and i really loved it. You can buy one of those boo boo bunnys and stick it on top its really cute.

Maybe you could get a pretty wicker basket and put them in along with the other items you bought. Put a huge bow and a nice card.

I was going to say diaper cake too!
But you can cover each with a baby blanket or the whole bunch of them in a corner with baby sheets or a blankie.

I registered at two, mainly to make it convenient for people who might not live next to one or the other. I registered at Babies R Us and Target. But registering was uncomfortable for me, I don't like insinuating that I want people to buy me gifts.

Smile Registries

She is at 4 different places 3 retail and one online natural type store that charges 8.00 for 1 oz of tea (seems like alot to me =) )
When i see so many items and places I think it is a little insulting like they expect everything on the lists
and her lists are long
or maybe people just do that for alot of variety

zanny,
I think you are very generous! I would have loved to have gotten that many packages of diapers (heck--or anything actually) from my SILs. Note they got us nothing, ever for any of our kids' births. I say you did good! If she isn't thrilled, then she can take them all back and buy her big ticket items. That many packages of diapers equals big bucks anyway! Maybe she registered at those places because certain people asked her to register there? Maybe she wanted one specific thing from that store and the sales clerk pressured her into 'adding more items' to the list. You never know.

Just remembers that diapers aren't much of a gift . . . until the baby comes. I'd use a gift bag, or wrap a big bow around them, and know that they'll be really useful soon, even if they don't look like much now. And yes, I'd love to get a gift that was that functional

It's not a stuffed animal or some items that you really don't need for the baby. I would have love to have gotten diapers! Have you priced them lately? They cost $$$.

If you feel you need to get her something else to go with the diapers, I would pick up PJ's or a cute oneis, on sale.
