I played softball all over the country, some of our fundraisers included
a prom gown fashion show with donated prom gowns people had that they couldn't use. We wore them and then the people could buy them after the show. We charged 5 bucks to get in.(this was a huge money maker for us!)

lots of car washes
bake sales at functions held at the school
we always had to sell candy bars and those cards that have discounts to certain restaraunts
if I think of anymore I will post.

I think the best idea is something that would also benefit the buyer....We have had "take your kids out to eat night @ McDonalds" where the school got a % of the sales and the teachers worked behind the counter and made the food..... PTO raised over $3,000

Domino's pizza sales... again school gets % of each sale on certain nights

Another favorite is a sub sale where I can buy as many tickets as I want and go to the local mini market when I want to pick up the sub of my choice...its made fresh and not sitting for days until I have time to eat it..... I buy 10 or so tickets since I can use them for up to 3 months and they make great Dinners on the go.....

Chinese auctions with food is great fun for the afternoon
Bingo for cash prizes....

Some that I hate are:
candy ( especially now during Lent and with Easter coming.....)
cookbooks.....
Subs where you get them on a certain day and are never really fresh
50/50 are O.k.

Our students make t-shirts with different sayings (appropriate). in school colors. They are sold at the h.s. and then to the middle and elm. schools. We have had "simply enfuego!" (means simply on fire), another local rival also has a dog mascot so "our dog's better than your dog" etc.
We have a chainlink fence around our ball fields that face a major thoroughfare. Students sell space for a day, week, etc. on the fence. The writing is in styrofoam cups. As long as it is appropriate, it must be approved. This goes on all year.
If someone has a bunny costume... have the student arrange to go to the elm. schools or preschools and presell a photo with the Easter Bunny. They can be printed at Walmart or any photo lab, or at school if they have the equiptment.
Good Luck!

One of my favorites is bagging groceries at the local store. The teams show up on a Sat morning, offer to bag your groceries for a 'donation'. They usually do a great job....not any squished food!

My 15 yr old daughter was the cutest one morning....she didn't see the table or signs, and when some cute boys offered to bag our groceries she said no thanks, not realizing it was a fundraiser.....she just thought they were flirting!!

that is one thing I can't stand, kinda be forced to pay for something that I don;t want...so when I see the signs on the store that there are baggers(or beggers) for a fee, well I turn around and go somewhere else..

You can still shop there and bag your own.....they do ASK if you would like to help, they dont just start grabbing your stuff.......I would much rather have help, then buy some overpriced ugly wrapping paper, or a 'gift card assortment' that came without envelopes (my last two fundraiser catalog purchases!) where 50% of my money goes to the company. At least the kids get the benefit of 100% of my dollars.

but in this particular store, they don't ask ,they just grab your stuff and hand you their bucket...beside do not want teenage boys handling my tampons.....
overpriced junk: no ,won't do it either...and for the same reason you mention.....I will help with fund rasiing, but the bagging of my groceries is off limit...
we go to car washes,(100% of the profits got to them),let the teeneager girl next door babysit and pay double....

We've always had good results with bake sales. Even a yard sale would be a good idea. Could sell Hot dogs, chips, drink for cheap and make a good profit.

My DD is 11 and just started her 6th season playing softball. We get to have the concession at our home games to raise money, we sell hot dogs, chips, candy bars, soda, water, gatorade, nachos, gum, sunflower seeds and popsicles. Also something we have done in the past to raise extra money was sell Krispy Kream Donuts.

I myself have not done this one, but my sisters school did. They check with the local grocery store to see if they would help with this. They clip coupons and place by the product.
Folks then have the choice when they get to the checkout to use the coupon or donate the coupon price to the school. Most of the folks donated the amount on the coupon to the school and they made a ton of money.
One of the other fundraisers that went over very well is bake up a batch of cupcakes and sell them for a quarter each, but in one of the cupcakes there is a folded dollar bill wrapped in foil that is baked in the cupcake. These can only be sold at the end of school of course.
Our local pizza ranch will allow the kids to bus tables one night a week and get part of the profits but there is a waiting list for this. I know there are several other places in a bigger town close to where we live that don the same thing.
Host a dance for the middle school kids. We charged admission, sold food. The kids raising money were the DJ's and we had fun things to do, tug of war, pinata, hokie pokie etc....

Our local animal shelter did a fund raiser selling Joe Corbi's pizza, cookies etc - made a nice bit of money and everything I bought was certainly good.

2 ideas....

First, the girls could paint the school mascot on people's driveways and in front of businesses for a fee. You would need to check with your city government to get permission to paint on city sidewalks.

The second idea is the most fun we've ever had with a fundraiser. We purchased 4 plastic flamingos from Walmart. You place them on various lawns in a nice, glaringly obvious spot (start with someone you know like the principal of the school, coaches, team members, etc). Each flamingo has a laminated signs tied to their neck that says "Hi! My name is Fred the flamingo and I am helping raise money for xxxx. I have been placed on your lawn by someone you know. For $1 you can have me removed, for $3 you can have me removed and find out who sent me and for $5 you can have me removed, find out who sent me and have me placed in the yard of your choosing. Please call xxx-xxxx and thanks for supporting xxxxxx."

We had Fred, Frank, Flora and Fergie and we raised over $200 just my kids and I. 4 was a good number for us to keep track of. Each flamingo had a tracking sheet that we kept in the car with an envelope with change. Almost everyone were good sports. We did lose 2 flamingos. One we got back and one went MIA for good. It was hilarious getting phone calls on Fred's or Fergie's behalf. I only had one person get mad and refuse to pay but we also had one guy move the flamingo to his neighbor's yard, who rolled her eyes and then participated happily anyway.

Depending on your town's size, the team could form groups and be in charge of a pair of flamingos each. If you have a community that loves to participate but is fund-raisered to the max, it's something new and a lot of fun.

Good luck!!

My daughters softball team is selling Cookie Lee Jewelry as a fund rasier this year. They are also holding silent auction and raffle for donated items at opening ceremonies.

Sort of a highjack, but pretty much on topic. I have a similar question. My DD is 8 and they are responsible for raising money on their own for the softball all star team. A lot of kids around here just carry a jar around to businesses and ask for donations. Any ideas on what an 8 yr old can do by herself? Thanks-

One of our HS teams..

had a parents night out.

They used the school gym, had lots of games and activities. It was $10 (I think) a kid for 3 hrs. My girlfriend's kids went and had a blast.

Garage sales also make big $$. Maybe do that in the summer and candy/kid watch during the fall?

The best fundraisers are for things people actually want, or would buy anyway. Coupon books, services, etc. seem to do better than popcorn, wrapping paper, etc.

Have fun!
