Talking We are actually going on an Adult Vacation!!

Gasp! It is true a vacation without the children, who'd thunk it?

Seriously, my DH did a great job....This year is the year we've been married for 10 years (so sweet) and DH has rented a house on Islamorada Key, Florida...with a private inlet to the ocean. He did a good job! I am so super excited about this but I tend to be super relaxed....I could sit on the dock and do nothing for 7 days! I am all about just sitting there but, I don't want to miss out on some of the local stuff like the Rescue dolphins...that sorta thing.

So if any of you Ladies and Gentlemen have been down to ANY of the keys I would love to here about some of your stories or even places that are a must see. Feel free to e-mail me any websites you think would be helpful as well.

Thanks,

Vicki

Congratulations!!! DH and I are too. We booked a cruise in April for a week. I'm very nervous about leaving the kiddo's with my IL's, but on the other hand... sleep is good, and I intend to get a lot of that with no interruptions.

I hope you have tons of fun

Me and my husband went away for 2 days for our 7th anniversary, not far from us (1 1/2 hrs). We went to the poconos (Caesars Palace) and OMG it was awesome they are for couples only and they have champagne towers which is a champagne hot tub, but the rooms also have pools and dry saunas. It was great and they have so much for you to do its not that expensive weeknights are cheaper (they give 50% military discount during the week) and its all inclusive, We only went snowmobiling, which was soo much fun (this is included) bc it was cold, but they have theme nights there and comedians (we missed the comedian ) But it was awesome I didnt want to come home!!! There was soo much stuff to do! I WANT TO GO BACK RIGHT NOW!

Don't forget, MyCoupons has a GREAT travel board! If you haven't been there, I would jump over and post a note about places to visit in the Keys. I'm sure they'll have some great ideas for you!

You should definitely go over to Key West for the sunset celebration at Mallory Square. there are street vendors and street performers and then everyone celebrates the beautiful sunset. don't miss it.

Even if you've never done it before, you have to rent a moped and ride around the area and the beaches. It was so much fun and great "child-like" feeling! The fishing is great if you like it and so is the antiquing, if you like to do that sort of stuff. I can't recommend most of the tours. Many are really hokey, although I haven't done a whole lot of them (learned my lesson after the first 2 or 3!).

Like the other poster said, go to Mallory Square at sunset. It's beautiful. Depending on whether it's Spring Break, for kids, it gets really crowded, so go a bit early. There is music, street performers, food, drinks, and lots of fun.

You must try the fried conch while there and the key lime pie. Don't let the restaurants fool ya. They make look a bit "rustic" on the outside, but many are really fantastic and serve some awesome dishes. Sample some of the local fare. Don't settle for burgers & fries. Double bonus, if you can find a place overlooking the water/sunset- Louie's is a good choice.

Enjoy you kid-free vacation!

We eloped in Key West last year In my opinion, Key West is the best part of the keys! It is so much fun. Beautiful. Mallory Square is great. There are tons of street performers. We also went on a Sunset Cruise - that was beautiful. Just make sure that you go on a windy day! It was quite still on the day we went and I ended up getting seasick Parking can be difficult to find, but it can be done. We only had to pay to park once . . . We visited a lot of the other keys as well. Will post more later . . .
