classmates.com? anyone join?

I got a free invite to view it today. I found an old boyfriend from 30+ yrs ago. Does anyone belong, and pay to belong to this site? I hope its ok to post this hear. I dont know which board to post on.

Is it worth it to join? I cant send an email from that site, to another member. I want to contact him, just to catch up, but not sure if its worth it to join. anythoughts?

I joined a long time ago, but did not get the *gold* membership. By joining for free, you can basically see who else has joined. With the paid membership, you are able to contact other members. I graduated with a class of 400, and about 25% are members. I know this isn't much help to you, but it's all I know.

I joined some time ago, I don't think I'll renew it next year though, haven't used it much at all. It's very expensive IMO.

Well, I have been a member for years now. I was considering becomming a gold member just to be able to contact an old friend or two. I see now that when someone visits your profile, that they leave their names. I have a name left on mine, and I am dying to know who it was, but cant find out unless I am a gold member.

So, since you jointed, and paid, can you see the actual email address of your classmate, or do you have to send them an email for it to get to them? I composed an email to a member, but it says I have to pay to send it. Wish I could just join for one month.

I joined and 2 weeks later I received an email from my boyfriend from high school. We dated from our freshman year in high school to sophmore year in college. It was nice to hear from him but almost opened doors I didn't want open.

I don't think you can see their actual email address unless they send you something. But you can email through the site as a gold member.

Free Trial

I went on classmates.com and clicked around a little bit. After I clicked on the spot where it showed that 2 people had left their name, it asked me to sign up to view the information. When I closed the window, it offered me a free 7 day trial gold membership. JUST DON'T FORGET TO CANCEL IF YOU DON'T WANT A FULL MEMBERSHIP! ($39 for the year I think.) Maybe it will work for someone else too.

I have a friend who is a Gold member. She's had it for years. Last year, I got an 'alert' from Classmates that a friend from college was trying to contact me. He wasn't a Gold member and neither was I. So I had my friend who IS a Gold member contact him, and she gave him my e-mail address. We've kept in touch since and he's been to visit us and we've visited him. It had been over 30 years since we'd talked!!

So if you want to get in touch with friends from long ago, I guess it would be worth it.

Another route is MySpace. I just had a friend from my teen years contact me thru MySpace. Hadn't heard from her in years, too.

After reading how they bill you even after you try to cancel, I think I will buy a visa cash card to join. I heard that if both people arent gold members, then you cant get in touch with them anyway. I did post my email address on my bio, even though it says not to. I spelled it out differently, by typing the word at, instead of @, and typing out dot, instead of putting the dot in my email address. So far, they havent booted me. Its been over 30 years that I talked to this guy, and I am dying to talk to him via email. I did see where he lives, and found his phone number, but would rather email.

My friend who is the Gold member got in touch with the guy trying to contact me and he wasn't a Gold member. So I guess you can contact people who aren't Gold members unless they've changed the rules since last year.

That's a good idea about how to post your e-mail address so it can't be detected!!!
