If you go up to the members list it says 436835
Not all are active though.

lord, when I joined, there was a list of members and we all knew each other by name and screen name. there was less than 100 when I joined.. man , the good old days. lol

In scanning the pages in the membes list something just struck me as quite strange.

Out of the more than 14,500 pages there, I scanned the first 200 pages. I was still in the A's on page 200 but out of that many members only a handful had posts. The vast majority of members list at that point had "0" posts.

That just strikes me as very odd. Like, why join if you never post ANYTHING.
On another board I belong to, we've been having problems with trolls. But they DID post at least one post. Some posts were not very nice.
I'm just wondering if a lot of those members listed on the list with "0" posts could be trolls also.

Just a thought.

Oh yes, I too, remember back in the "good ole days" when everyone "knew" the other members.
Back then the members list indicated which members were on site and which board they were visiting at the moment.

How time does change things.

some people might just be members for the LWIF boards. My hubby is a member and he may only have about 2-3 posts. He has been a member since 98... He is the reason I found these boards...

Some had to register again after one of the board changes a few years back.

They were unable to log in. The old name is still listed on the member list but doesn't work for them.

grannyshirl - That's exactly what happened to me. I found my old name in the list. I had originally registered back in Dec 2000! I wonder if there's anyway to resurrect the old name.

It would be nice if all user names that have not made a post in 1 year would be suspended and taken off the membership list. People who would get suspended this way, and inquired, would be told just to rejoin or re-register.
This way the membership list is almost 100% "active" members.
Then as new members want to join, you have the ability to "screen" them. Ask for name, address, phone number, info that would be kept by the administators and would stay confidential. Also, part of the registration process should be the need for one or more referrals, either other members on MC that they know or someone from another board. If from another board the referral or references will be contacted.

I think new members who come here to start scamming people out of coupons and pphf would have to give name, address, phone number and a referral.
This should eliminate all the bad traders who try to join. They would be required to provide a little more info than they want MC to know about them.

And all MC members would be advised to always exchange user names with your trader. Be careful to accept concealed or stamps from traders you do not know.

All this could be just as benefitual as a feedback forum.
