I am at the end of my rope.......

I am desperate for help with dry cracked skin on my feet.... I have tried every lotion out there and still have dry cracked skin so bad that I am miserable and in pain by the end of the night......
Tried:
wearing shoes all day
wearing nothing but socks all day
wearing slippers......going barefoot!

SIL told me to start the Bath and Body Works foot scrub...something with spa in the name.it comes with creme and a lotion type that you put on in the shower..... so I got that .... also the pharmacist recommended Zim's Crack Creme...so I got that today too.....

Is there a home remandy out there or any help would be appreciated.....

I really don't want to waste the money to see the Dr who will only send me to the Dermotologist....... but I am really out of my mind!

Best thing I have ever used on my feet and body is AmLactin Moisturizing Lotion 8 oz> It is amazing. My feet bleed without using it.

I had the same problem. I would rub a generous amount of Vaseoline on my feet and then put on my socks in the morning and would remove the socks before I went to bed. You could also do it before you go to bed and remove the socks in the morning. Within 14 days my dry cracked feet were and still are soft and smooth. Cheap and effective. HTH

Go and buy a foot soak product and a pumice stone or you could go for a pedicure ( I love treating myself to a pedicure they feel so good ) they will get all the dead skin off of your feet then you can maintain with a foot lotion HTH

Ditto. Also try BBW True Blue spa foot Cream. Works wonders. Try getting a pedicure-- they will buff off all the dead skin, and your feet will feel like new.

Get a Microplane foot file to remove the dead skin and then moisturize like crazy to maintain them. Use the microplane every other day for a week or so then you should be able to drop down to once or twice a month. Works wonderfully!

I wanted you to know that I too have dry feet (you have to read that line with a dramatic voice and then swoon) LOL

I use a pumice stone in the shower every other day and while socks are a good idea with the moisturizer, I would recommend you use moisturizing socks.....no they do not have moisturrizers built in they keep the lotion in the sock and not all over your sheets. I got mine at Bath and Body Works about two years ago, $7.50 not on sale, and I wash them every day. (cause I have a least one load of laundry to do)

That has solved my problem.....you won't believe how nice it is to put sandals on and not feel like Godzilla!

I agree with the thick cream or vaseline and socks on before bedtime. I use an electric blanket on our bed and the warmth helps my feet to absorb the lotion. Also, I make it a point to do dishes in the sink once in a while with rubber gloves. I put an overabundance of lotion on my hands and then do dishes in the hottest water possible. My hands come out feeling soft and moisturized.

I agree with getting rid of the dead skin first. Lotion cannot penetrate through the dead skin. After the dead skin is gone then you can make some progress with the cremes and lotions to soften.

Another thing that works wonders for dry, cracked feet (or hands) is good ole A & D ointment. You can buy it in the section of Walmart, Target, etc....in the area that carries Vaseline.

My daughter and I use the BBW True Blue Shea it isn't so Butter foot cream....it works best to apply right after you have showered or taken a bath. While your feet are still moist, apply generously, put on a pair of socks and let it do it's work.

I used the Nuetrogena Norwegian Formula Foot Cream (you can buy it at WalMart) at night with the little cotton socks you buy in the cosmetics section of WalMart. Mine, too, were cracked so bad they really hurt. It took 5 or 6 days and now I just put Curel lotion on them every morning after my shower.

My hands do the same thing and when they really bother me, I also buy the cotton gloves and put Aquaphor on them overnight. It really helps.

Please don't take this as an insult but I would try an antifungal cream. I had the same problem and it ended up being athletes foot. I thought athletes foot was between the toes or a rash and usually it is. I went to the Dr and tried the antifungal cream and I have soft feet again that don't crack. It hurts I know and if those feet don't feel good you don't feel good.

My brother-in-law had ugly feet until he started using the Gold Bond medicated. I feel pretty sure that he didn't remove dead skin first -- you'd understand if you met him!!! His feet look great now (even though they are hairy Hobbit feet, LOL).

I have this problem too and Eucerin in the tubs and Vaseline help alot. Mine get real bad if I forget to use a pumice in the shower. I recommend not using the pumince or any other abrasive product until you get the cracks healed...mine would actually bleed.

You have to use an antibacterial ointment to heal the cracks as well.

Licensed Pro here! First, use a file or stone to remove the excess dead skin. Immediately fill a tub or basin with luke warm (not hot but not cold) water, add 1 cup of Vinegar and half cup of salt and soak feet for 20 minutes or longer. Remove pat dry lightly. Apply some type of moisturizer, I recommend vaseline. Can also use vegetable like for cooking. Wrap them up or put on socks. Allow to remain on feet while sleeping. If you dont' want to use those types of products, use Aveeno, Lubriderm, or some other type of moisturizing lotion for excessive dryness.

*The reason for Vinegar and Salt is because it NATURALLY replaces the acidity and moisture of the skin. The skin's pH level is approximately 4.5 and vinegar and salt combo is approximately the same.

Hope this helps!

I got a sample of Pretty Feet and Hands Rough Skin Remover and it worked great. You rubbed it on dry feet until the dead skin just started sloughing off. Kind of gross to see but it worked great. I haven't been able to find it in any stores but I think they sell it at drugstore.com.
