My daughter was just diagnosed with an eating disorder - my husband and I are having a difficult time - we both were blind sided - never thought one of our children would suffer through something like this. Anyone else dealing with this?

Yes... my niece. She entered a treatment center right before Valentine's Day and is scheduled to be home by Easter. I just wrote a letter to her this morning which is always hard.

They tried everything from home first (ie she had a team with doctor, nutritionist, and counselor) but even though she started to gain some weight back, the disease had progressed.

When she came to her parents and asked for help, they found a treatment center that insurance covered. It is far away from home but we are all hoping that she and her family are getting the help that they need.

I am so sorry to hear about this. I don't know a lot about it but do know how it is very difficult and effects the entire family... extended family too.

I am so sorry your family is going through this. I have 5 sisters and 2 suffer from Anorexia. My youngest sister was "caught" when she put on her prom gown and you could see her skeleton. She was 17 then. My father pretty much threatend her to eat or else she would go away to a hospital that would treat her. She ended up in a hospital 2 years later.
My oldest sister was 43 when we noticed her weight loss. She was able to overcome it herself, but not without a lot of people watching her every move.
Be supportive . I'm sorry to hear about your daughter. She will be in my thoughts..
