Soda Can Tabs

I promised someone here that I would save soda can tabs for them and can't remember who it was. If you read this and still want them (I have a baggie full), please send me your address. Or if anyone else is collecting these for Ronald Mcdonald House, let me know and you can have them. Thanks.

If you don't find the person who wanted them, please email me and let me know. I would love them! The Ronald McDonald House near me (Orlando) collects them, and I generally go down about 1x/month with the tabs I have collected. BTW, they take the tabs from any of the following: soda cans, vegetable and soup cans, and pet food cans.

Thanks!

National Kidney Foundation Dispels Pull Tabs For Dialysis Time Rumor

New York, NY
June 1, 1998

“A false rumor that has plagued the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) and the aluminum industry for decades has recently resurfaced, perhaps fueled by the Internet.

Individuals and groups believe they can donate the pull tabs on aluminum cans in exchange for time on a kidney dialysis machine.

Such a program has never existed through the NKF, nor have there ever been programs through the foundation allowing people to exchange any type of item (box tops, product points, etc.) for time on dialysis.

However, it is important to note that some organizations not affiliated with the NKF do collect pull tabs to help raise funds for various causes. …”

National Kidney Foundation: Newsroom

+

As a fund raiser, please be aware that it takes 1,400 pull tabs to make one pound.

One pound of scrap aluminum is going for around 24˘.

I am a teacher at an elementary school and our entire school collects these to donate to the Ronald McDonald house in Tampa. This is our 3rd year that I know of, so they do take them.

WOW, you're getting highly cheated on the per pound price of scrap aluminnum.
There is a scrape yard near me that I pass every time I go to the grocery or pharmacy.
The price per pound there now is .74 Mon-Thurs. and .75 on Friday
The very lowest price I've seen on their sign in a few years is .64 & .65
When I first moved here 14 years ago it was in the .40's
