Question What song........

What song is the one that will stop you in your tracks, choke you up and take you (in your mind) right to a person, place or feeling?
I have a few that evoke good or sad memories but when I hear Alan Jackson's "Drive" I am 10 years old and finally, finally, tall enough to reach the pedals of my dad's 67 Chevy pickup.
It makes me miss my Dad but it brings back memories of some of the best times of my life.
How about it, anyone have a song that will make them tear up, giggle or want to dance when they hear it at the Safeway?

The National Anthem makes me cry everytime.

I have lots of songs that take me back to special memories or even a movie that I really liked.

omg, Eagle's Wings is such a beautiful song, but so sad-especially given the only time I hear it anymore is at funerals.

As far as songs that make me cry on the radio-Everybody Hurts by REM
and lately, for obvious reasons-Sara Beth by Rascall Flats-she died of the same cancer (rhabdomyosarcoma) that my son has been battling all year. And I must add, he is doing awesome-done w/ treatment, scans on Good Friday and then if all is clear, and 80% chance that this cancer will NEVER come back again. Music to my ears!

My DD is singing the song "SKIN" or SaraBeth at the talent show this year, I did start crying the 1st time I heard that song.

One song that takes me back is The Dance by Garth Brooks.......my first slow dance with a major crush in 8th grade!!

All Summer Long by the Beach Boys gets me every time. Takes me back to when I was about 14 or 15.
Josh Groban's rendition of Starry, Starry Night.
Dante's Prayer by Loreena McKennett.
And the theme from "Somewhere in Time" (Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini)

"Go Rest High On That Mountain" by Vince Gill and any Southern version of Amazing Grace...both were played at my Uncle's funeral and they get me every time.

I always tear up when I hear "Proud to be an American"...I listened to it often when DH was in Desert Storm and I missed him so...

Until I downloaded it to my iPod and got use to it I would break down and start bawling everytime I heard "Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me" by Gladys Knight
There are way to many songs that I hear that I can put myself right at a place to bring back memories (many that I do not want to live again.)
Madonna's "This Use To Be My Playground" puts me right back to my house at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii and I remember sitting on the big church steps wondering what in the world I was going to do since I let the one that got away go away.
Each Christmas season I cannot help but bawl when I hear for the first time the Shoe song.
I forgot the name but it was a Charlie Sexton song that I loved to sing was the first song that I played in my boyfriends red Alfa when he let me drive it the first time. (Now he is my husband. I remember that he told me that if I had an accident not to come back. I could drive that car better than he could!!!)
Since I jsut heard a U2 song I have to say "With or Without You" reminds me of seriously making out in my moms car and breaking the switchs on her stereo on the front dash board!!!

oh goodness, remember the fundraiser that a bunch of celebrities did right after-I think George Clooney kind of hosted it. Anyway, do you remember when Celine Dion sang, God Bless America? I know everyone in my house just cried like babies. I've got tears in my eyes right now just thinking of it.

Glory of Love-Peter Cetera-came out when I was 13 and played everytime for 9 weeks when I talked to my then best friend and the guy everyone said I would marry, and I wish I did.

What Might Have Been- Little Texas- Same reason as above.

Your the Inspiration-Chicago-Was suppose to dance to this at my wedding with my ex-fiancee.

I Hate Myself for Loving You-Joan Jett and the Blackhearts(I think)- how i feel about my husband more then I should.

Gone Crazy-Alan Jackson- My husband played this when we first met and I had to go back home. I lived in Ohio and he in Wyoming. One of the things that keeps us connected.

Small Town-Alan Jackson- Reminds me of where I came from and the fact that it no longer exits. My on story high school is now multi story, the hitching posts for the horses are gone.. they were still there in 1994.

IF- The one where it says "If a picture paints a thousand words then why can't I paint you." I was in South America and walking along the beach with some friends and one of the guys has an incredible voice and started singing this.

LOTS more but I better quit I might start crying while I type.
