I have been a practicing witch for 5 years, dh for about 25 yrs. Paganism is a collective term for many different faiths and Wicca is one specific Pagan faith; someone can be Pagan, but not Wiccan, but Wiccans are Pagan. Wicca is an earth-based (meaning we draw our energy (power, some call it) from the earth and nature), polytheistic religion (Gods & Goddesses, as opposed to one God). We call ourselves witches (men & women are witches - warlocks are 'bad' witches). We do not turn people into creatures, and we believe that magick is real and the power to perform that magick comes from nature. We do not do magick for personal gain (or we would have won the lottery a long time ago, LOL) and believe that any deed done comes back to you threefold (good or bad). We also do not 'recruit' members. If someone expresses an interest, we will answer their questions, but religion is not to be taken lightly and we will not influence their decision. If someone chooses the path of Wicca, so be it, but you will not find any true Wiccans thumping the Book of Shadows and knocking on doors looking for people to listen and join up. HTH

A Wiccan is a Pagan. We do not have a single "god". We believe that the deity is both male and female and as such, honor both gods and goddesses that represent some aspect of the deity. Some Wiccans choose not to personify a deity at all, and speak instead of the 'creative force of the universe' or some similar phrase. Some women choose to follow a version of Wicca that downplays or ignores the god-aspect altogether, as a reaction against what they perceive to be the 'masculinization' of more traditional religions. This page has a good explanation: What is Wicca, Witchcraft and Paganism

LOL Everyone feels that - kind of like finding your real home. Pagan is an umbrella term for all religions that are not Abrahamic (Christian, Muslim & Jewish, all religions that stem from the Old Testament.) Wicca is one of the somewhat orgranized religions falling into that umbrella. It is NOT witchcraft although many Wiccans do practice witchcraft, just as many don’t. Neo Pagans tend to be a little more pragmatic and see the gods, any god as symbols of part of a whole. It is a nature based philosophy. Tends to be an exceptionally well read group of people. Again some practice witchcraft – most don’t Witchcraft is not a religion it is simply a nature based craft Duh! The reason most don’t really practice it is – it simply isn’t that easy. Can it be used to do harm? Sure – but very few would even try it and those that do soon regret it big time LOL. The three fold law works every time! Even if you don’t believe in it. Anything Satanic is the off shoot of the Abrahamic religions NOT Pagan as Pagans have absolutely NO belief in Satan. Fluffy Bunnies are newcomers that tend to overdo the enthusiasm like converts to anything else. The internet is full of them so you have to be a little careful about info Best Pagan forum MysticWicks Online Pagan Community and Pagan Forums and Spiritual Sanctuary - Powered by vBulletin Great group of people. Among others there is a parenting board, new pagan board or the book board. I’m sure you can get some great children’s book recommendations on any of them or any other Pagan related questions.
