Last week I called this highly recommended bathroom guy to redo my 1968 bathroom. He told me I would see him last friday. I'll call you and stop by. Last friday came and went, no call. He calls me middle of this week. I tell him, I thought you forgot about me. He says I will stop by friday at 8 am....where is he??? It is now after two!! What is it with repair people? Am I not money in his pocket? Have you seen him??

I saw him he was having lunch at Casa Marina!! Seriously I hate that! It drives me up the wall, its time to blast him, tell him that you are getting another bid and that he needs to step it up and get over there. That will either get him moving or you will lose him....however at least you will know how its going to go. In the future I would make sure you have several contractors bidding and let them all know about each other....when you do the contract (and always have a contract) make sure you include dates when certain things are finished by if they are not have a penalty for money!! And you can always hold onto the draw (money) to make sure they show up.

Nope, he's not at my house! But I think I'd be looking for a new bathroom guy! If he's doing this to you BEFORE you've hired him, think of how he'll treat you once you do hire him. He's treating you like he doesn't think your time is important. I'd drop him!

Yeah, what is it with repair/construction people? Ya have to beg them to come and give an estimate, like we're lucky or something if they show up. We had a really nice guy give us an estimate for a new 3 season porch on our home. He came by on time even, gave us a quote, called us to talk about it, called us frequently to see if we decided to do our porch. So we went ahead with the $40,000 project. They put piles of wood in our yard, they left construction tools all over the place. Then they worked a few days and didn't show up for another two, three weeks. It took all summer to do an estimated 2 week project. They blamed it on the workers, weather, holidays. They changed the design plans as they went. We won't be hiring anything out for a looong time.

You are all so right! If he is like this now what is he going to be like when he has my money!! This is one of the guys I am looking into using. I have seen his work and heard good things about him....maybe I should tell him my dh has a guy lined up. And he really does! I just wanted to get something from this guy.

Kathy, this is so much an epidemic in our area. I've been waiting for the roofer to come by for an estimate for several weeks now, and he LIVES right in my neighborhood! Is it a SoFLa thing??

I think roofers are the worst! They know we then them! Even if your roofer shows it might take months before he even starts!! Hope you don't want a tile roof put on, then it might be a year!! Just think hurricane season starts in just two months!!!
