Could you eat this????

Pretty gross....

Drennan takes this notion to the extreme. He's a vegetarian, but he also eats meat. His main source of protein?

Roadkill.

ABC News: Wild Man, Wild Food: The Roadkill Diet

Would you eat pan braised squirrels? Or seagull?

WOW.....I don't think that I could swallow roadkill knowing what it is. But then again...like the article said, If you did not know you would not be able to tell a difference. The thought of it is just nasty. But I am sure he is not the only person who does this.

I spent a summer in Alaska and they do this with moose that are hit on the road. They actually have a list that people can add their name too (usually they need a little help through the winter) and when a moose is hit, they call the next person on the list.

I had a friend who made squirrel soup! EWWW!

Having to eat that might actually jump start my new diet.

I was raised Lacto-Ovo vegetarian...I would not consider him a vegetarian by any stretch of the imagination. There are other ways to get protein. Would I eat it? If I were hungry enough, sure. But roadkill sitting out in the sun? Dangerous.....but I have heard of people eating worse. My husband was a navy SEAL during Vietnam and he has eaten worse.

They do that here in Kansas with the deer....I don't eat deer, but know someone who gets them this way...there's rules - like how quickly they got to the deer, how quickly the person can get there to get it, etc.

When i lived in Colorado they used to feed it to the prisoners. That was years ago and I'm not sure if they still do it now or not.

Sorry unless I was starving I don't think I could eat roadkill. I have a hard enough time eating beef just thinking of that lovely sweet cow at the fair.

I could but only if it was a deer or something similar, I hit it myself or I saw it being hit so I knew it was "fresh" and I was able to get it processed right away.

Raccoons, possums, rabbits, etc NO WAY!!!!

Not roadkill really, but when my DH was single, he and his roommate shot some squirrels in their yard and ate them. I thought that was too gross for words.....
