This is a woman I worked with at the local Christian Radio station. We were both DJ's, her shift was after mine. We also became friends. This woman has a definite testimony on her absolute experience with Hell. I believe it. http://www.rockfordwoman.com/apps/pb...RW02/102130065 |

sunnyone, nice definition. Heaven is where God is, Hell is where he's not. Hard to say what either one is like since I've never been to either one and don't claim to understand the Biblical descriptions of either. But I do believe they are literal places and the decisions we make in life determine where we end up after we're gone from the earth. |

What I believe is that Heaven is the afterlife where all people are at peace and without evil or emotional or physical suffering. Hell would be the anti-Heaven - I picture it filled with tortured souls, evil, screaming, pain, etc. I like to think that a person can earn their way out of Hell, and that everyone in Heaven is there to stay... |

I believe in a literal heaven and hell as the bible explains, hell will be a horrible, tormented place for those who have never accepted Christ and just as heaven it is eternal..Heaven shall be the most beautiful place we have ever seen, nothing on earth compares, streets of gold, walls of jasper and there is never any night!!!

I have never understood this, even when I was a devout Christian – what is the least bit attractive in an eternity with no problems? It is the problems, overcoming obstacles, learning from the pain/suffering and striving to become a better, more useful human being, – that make life so worth living. The thought of living totally at peace with no problems/obstacles for more than 2 days much less eternity IS my idea of hell.

I believe in what the Bible says about Heaven and Hell. Heaven is a place where if you've accepted Christ as your Saviour, you'll spend eternity. You'll be with your loved ones who have gone on before who have accepted Christ, you'll walk on streets of gold, you'll never know pain or loneliness again -- you'll never cry. Christ has built a mansion for everyone and we'll live in peace and contentment forever. I don't think we'll sit around all day doing nothing. I think we'll have fun and just enjoy being at peace. As for hell, I think Hell is an actual place. There won't be partying going on. There will be fire and those cast into the lake of fire will suffer actual pain forever and ever, the burning will never go away; those cast into hell, the suffering will never stop, they'll be thirsty all the time and the memories of having the opportunity to accept Christ but turning Him away will forever be in their memory.

There are people who believe that to go to Heaven you need to accept Christ. I am a Christian, so this is my calling. However, what about those who are NOT Christians? How about Jewish people? How about Muslims? And then there are those who might not ever have even heard of Christ? I believe there are many paths to God, and to Heaven. I have to believe that any people who have done their best to live by God's commandments are Heaven-bound. I just didn't want any non-Christians to be offended. |

I totally believe in Heaven, but my question is, Who gets to go there? I am not involved in any sort of organized religion; have never been baptised, or anything like that. Just didn't have the best guidance on that one growing up. I have tried going to church on occasion, but it makes me so uncomfortable-it makes me very weepy...Ok, so I am a good person, I believe in God/ I have been saved, but is that enough to get me into Heaven? While I could absolutely be a better person, am I deemed for Hell just because I didn't follow the proper protocol? What's your take?

I agree, I think there are a lot of different ways to get to Heaven. I would hope that any good person would be allowed and not banished to hell because we didn't go to church to worship. I am a spiritual person but don't go to church because I just haven't found one I really believe in. My neighbor who is Christian and I have some great talks about it and she really makes me think, but I can't see going and sitting there every SUnday. I think she's trying to save me and get me on the right path, if that's what you call it. I don't think hell is all fire and torture, I believe it is all of the things you didn't get right while you were here, the lessons you didn't learn, the bad feelings you passed on to others. Before you can earn your way into Heaven those wrongs need to be fixed and learned from. Has anyone read What Dreams May Come? Not see the movie, it wasn't good. I believe in the Biblical 'Heaven and Hell'. I consider the Bible to be the literal word of God and I don't think that 'all paths lead to Heaven', which is contrary to the Bible. With that said, I'm not the type to discriminate against anyone and we have friends of all faiths, even a lesbian couple. We just agree to disagree and leave it at that. I don't feel the need to convert anyone but I always have an answer for the hope that lies within and I am never ashamed of my religious beliefs.

I really do like the Wynona Judd quote. I will be pondering that one. I think that she makes an excellent point! I'm still trying to figure out how to answer the original question in this thread -- this has been very thought-provoking for me!I attended a very fundamentalist church for a long time as a teenager and I came away from that experience with extreme guilt -- about everything. I tried going the opposite route and that church seemed extremely focused on money and wealth -- of which Jesus was not. My mother had an affair with a Buddhist monk (I kid you not, my parents got divorced over it) when I was in 7th grade -- hmmm. All experiences really tainted my view on organized religion. For me, it really comes down to spirituality being a personal experience. Religion is not. The problem that I am finding though, is that DH and my belief system really may appear close-minded to our children. So, we really to make some effort in giving our children some exposure to a LOT of different belief systems so that they can learn to make good choices as adults. But, that's another topic!!!!! I believe in the heaven and hell of the Bible. There is only one way to heaven..through the saving grace of Jesus Christ. linnybop...if you are saved..if you have made the decision to accept Jesus Christ as your personal savior then you are, indeed, heaven bound. Since salvation cannot be obtained through works, simply being a good person or doing good deeds will not get you into heaven.

I, too, believe what the Bible says about Heaven and Hell. I believe the only way to get to Heaven is to accept Christ as your savior.

I like to look to the Bible for answers, especially what Jesus said...like when He said "he that comes to me I will in no way cast out"(John 6:37)....Jesus was all about love and forgiveness, but even He warned of Hell....I cant imagine God giving His only Son for no good reason. All I know is Jesus is alive, He lives in my heart, and God is real because of Him and i have a daily relationship with Them...knowing that if i mess up i am still loved. i am convinced we will receive rewards for what we have done upon earth...a wise person once said "Only one life, 'twill soon be past; only what's done for Christ will last". And i am also aware of a Dark Force that resists anything to do with Christ. Good luck to all in your journey!

Well I believe if you are a good person you will go to heaven but murders & child molesters, abusers & some people who steal & things like that will go to hell. And I believe living your life being a good person & believing is enough for you to go to heaven. I think hell would just be a miserable place & heaven a great place with all my family & no one is ever sick or dying like they are on earth we will just be together again for eternity.

I believe everyone will go to heaven but the heaven everyone goes to may differ. For an example heaven for a criminal might be comming back as a spirit on earth that likes to mess with peoples heads, lol. I believe all will go to the heaven that they desire. |
