I had one at the ripe old age of 27 in November of 2004. I had had my tubes tied for 4 years at that point. I was waking up to a bloody crime scene every morning of my period.....seriously it was bad. I had a D n C to clear out everything and then they performed the ablation. I have to say I did not have a period for like two years and since October of last year I have had a normal to light period. I don't know how old you are but, my doc told me that b/c I was so young my body could possibly heal itself. Lets hope not.....Momma is done with all that crap!

I had an endometrial ablation 2 years ago for abnormal bleeding. Initially it worked great. Periods were reduced to a day or 2 of a trickle. Lately it had been pretty heavy, long and gross again. Dr. said if it didn't work for the long term the next step is a hysterectomy.

I had the thermal ablation in Feb of this year. So far, so good It was a relatively simple process --outpatient surgery. So far, I have not had a period other than some light spotting. I had horrible periods that were unpredictable. I had my tubes tied 5 years ago. I had been on the pill again for a year (several types) with no luck. My ob/gyn suggested this as a fix since she really wanted to give me more time before a hysterectomy. I am 40 years old, so I was ready for the hysterectomy if that was what was warranted. She said that this could give me another 5 years if it was successful. Feel free to pm me at jewelryladynd@yahoo.com if you want more info. Leanne |

I also had my tubes tied three years ago and ever since have had heavy periods and clotting in between. I am going in on the 18th for this procedure and have a few friends that have had it done. They all say that they still have periods but very light - only two days max. One friend had it done and it didn't work - so she just had a hysterectomy a few weeks ago. Hope it works for me!!! I had ablasion done last year. I had my tubes tied two years ago and I think because of that I had horrible periods that lasted 10-12 days. So I had the ablasion. I have not had not even spotting in a year. I can tell when it would have been my period because I still have mood swings...but that is it. It was a huge life saver. I am a triathalete and I had a few races where I was in the port a potty trying to stop the bleeding. Not even the largest tampon worked. Now not even spotting. I hope you have the same success I have had with it.....no side effects nothing. And recovery was a breeze. |

Thanks for the info! I think I am going to see a new GYN. I have only seen this guy once, and I do not like his bedside manner. I miss my OLD Dr. ( He moved to NC!) I need to find someone I am comfortable with, who has done this before. I think this would help, it HAS too. I cannot stand this anymore. It is getting so bad that I stay home 6 days a month. With summer coming, I want to be able to ENJOY my pool and the beach, ya know? Thanks again for the replies. |

I had this procedure done in October of last year. I used to have to stay home during the first 3 days of my period, used Super plus Tampax with pads and still gushed all over. And, it would last for 7-9 days. I would have seen my Gyn. sooner but I honestly thought she would listen to my complaints about heavy and long periods and say, "Well, you are getting older and you've had 3 kids...that's the way it is for alot of women." But instead, she said, "Oh, we can take care of that right after your next period. What took ya so long to come see me???" I was more apprehensive about having general anesthesia than I was about the procedure itself. I had a D&C and the EA with no complications and I have not had any bleeding at all for 6 months. Even my raging PMS has disappeared. I cannot recommend the procedure enough!!! |
