Question Have you found your passion?

The thread the other day about being good at something got me to thinking. After half a century I have not found my "passion". Oh yes there are things I enjoy and things at which I am very capable, but nothing that I am passionate about. And it kind of bums me.
My SO over the last 5 years has become a very passionate photographer. So much so that he is making good money as a sideline. He can discuss photography and all it's aspects until my eyes glaze over and roll back in my head.

Have you found your passion? What is it? Does it consume you?

Passion

I Love taking care of people (Too unmotivated and scared to go to college so far though)
I took care of my Grandmother (Old age, Alzheimers? and Endometrial Cancer) 24-7 For 1 year and 5 Overall and I
really felt good about myself that I was able to help her and be there for her
I took care of my mother some too when she was dying from cancer
I hope I find my passion I get depressed seeing everyone that has found theres and I am pretty much standing still

Between work and a new baby, I don't even have time to think about finding a passion. I'm just trying to get through today and make it to tomorrow.

DH"s passion is golf.

I forget what I even liked to do before I had kids!

I like to think that when they are both in school I will actually have time to have a passion and remember what I enjoy.

I really love selling on Ebay. I can shop to my hearts content and actually make money doing it! Sometimes it's hard with the kids, but when they are in school I can do it at a more relaxed pace and hopefully enjoy it.

I feel like there IS something missing in my life though? A purpose?

My passion is My family corney as it sounds I love taking care of them.

Animals have worked with them all my life with my main passions being horses and greyhounds. I love working with both and can actually say I am very good at it, I used to train and show at a national level. When I gave riding lessons I loved teaching the older people to ride. To see their face light up as they realized a life long dream of learning to ride a horse was just wonderful.

My passion is kids. I have always loved singing but the begining of 2006 brought it to a new level. I started singing in the kids room at our church. We have an avarage of 700 kids per weekend. I also sing with our Ladybugs (kinda like girl scouts but through the church). I LOVE it. I started teaching the large group lesson a few weeks ago and I LOVE it. My favorite part is when I am out and about and my Ckidz come up and say "hi".

I talk to high school students mostly in inner-city schools every day about finding your passion. I tell them that the challenge in life is to figure out what you love to do and how to get paid to do it. Then I share with them some ideas they may not have already thought about and I let them know the college I represent is one of many options out there. I honestly let them know that there are lots of great schools and there is an education for everyone who wants to earn one but it takes drive, determination and initiative to be a success in anything they want to dream about becoming.

My father told me when I was younger that I talked too much. Now I get paid to talk. I have met some of the best and the brightest and let them know that there is a future if you are willing to work for it. I am not a saviour trying to raise these children from the pits of dispair . . . They have seen more and done more in their short lives than I will ever know. Their parents are sometimes in jail or on drugs. The children are often wards of the court and many of them get two free meals a day at schools which is the reason why they often go. Some students go by crackhouses and whorehouses to get to school. Many of them have no idea what is inside of them until some short fat white chick in a suit comes in and tells them that being creative makes them special and that creativitiy is inside all of us.

No . . . I can't save these children . . . But I can show them that there are many doors in life. You get to choose which ones you walk through. Choose the door that leads to the school I work for, choose one that goes to another school or a trade or something where you can make a life for yourself . . . But make a choice. Don't let others choose for you.

So do I have a passion . . . Have I found it.

You bet I have.

And for that I am truly blessed.

Maddy

I am very passionate about my life as a wife and mother. It feels like home to me.

I am incomplete without the horses though. This has been an incredible challenge for me as I raise children -- I have severe anxiety about the safety of children around horses.

I do have such a heart connection and incredible passion toward horses. My father used to call me a 'horse whisperer' and just lately, I believe I see what he was talking about as I have been doing some horse training at the therapeutic riding center where I volunteer.

It is such an incredible feeling to be a woman in her 40's who is FINALLY discovering her inner passions.

Zany- I think you've found your passion, find a way to use it. Believe me, caregiving is a true skill, talent, art , etc... It does not come easy to others, believe me. I think people who feel fulfilled caring for others were put here on earth for a very special purpose. Go for it!!

If you are looking for a different job, this could be a great opportunity for you. First let me say that much will depend on your State law, as far as what kind of education and licensure is required. You can do a lot of research on the internet regarding your state law.

In my state, seniors pay about $25 per hour for NAR (Registered Nursing Assistant) and NAC (Certified Nursing Assistant) in home care. The NAR license costs $15 per year, no exam, and you need 12 hours per year of continuing education in the field. The CNA license requires schooling, but not college, and a certification exam. CNA's make more money because of their education and certification. Don't quote me on this, but I think the CNA program is 6 - 12 months.

Some assistants are employed by Home Care agencies and are assigned senior clients to care for. The agency charges about $25 per hour, and the employee makes about $12 per hour as their salary. The rest , of course, goes to the agency. Some assistants are privately hired and leave out the middle man agency, they charge $20 - $25 per hour also. One difference is that you have to find your own clients, as opposed to an agency which provides them to you. Many assistants will get some experience working for an agency and then go out on their own. Sometimes you can get a gig that involves overnight care. The rate is usually a little less per hour for overnight care, but hey, you are getting paid to mostly sleep!

Anyway, I thought I would respond, since I have some background in this area. You can PM me if you have questions.
Patti
