Idol Spoiler, I Thought I Would Cry My Eyes Out

OMG, I thought Gina sung that song PERFECT !!, (Smile )
I cried when she sung Smile tonight, it had to be the saddest Idol I have seen thus far with a exit song., She was so graceful tho, There's NO WAY haley did a better job of singing last night.
I'm TOTALLLLLLLLYYYYYY SICKEN by Idol this year, If he stays till the end, I'll NEVER watch AI ever again. this is crazy !!....

BTW, Bet ya'll didnt know *Smile* the music was written bt no other than CHARLIE CHAPLIN LOL..... The Music is beatiful, you can listen to it here

SMILE - John Turner; Geoffrey Parsons; Charlie Chaplin -

I LOVED that song by Gina. I thought it was perfect. And she did a great job with it tonight and how appropriate!!! I did vote for her yesterday.
I agree, this years Idol is terrible. Haley and Sanjaya should have been gone a long time ago. I hope they change the procedure or Idol will fade away..... I do like Jordan, Melinda and Lakisha though. That much is right with the show but not much else this year!!

Me, too! I was absolutely floored when her name was called! I cried right along with her. I really hope she does well and she's offered a contract. I think she has a great voice and she doesn't sound like a repeat of all the other girls.

I just couldn't believe it. Nor can I believe AI this year. I noticed it was said tonite 33 million calls had come in. That's nothing compared to last year. This year is no comparison at all.

at this point in AI , I dont think too much will be a shocker to me any more, other than if Melinda gets voted off.....

I really didnt care way too much for Gina, However, I really think she would be one KILLER singer with melodies like she did last night. She has a good voice for this kind of singing. PLUS,, She really did put alot of heart and soul into the song... I did a little test tonight on the song with Nat King Cole and the music link I posted, she wasnt too off on the beat and the timming. altho she sung just a pace too slow than what it's suppose to be sung, Over all SHE WAS WONDERFUL last night.

I just DONT get this years AI, what has happen to it ??

I just dont know if things dont change next year in the way we/ America can vote I'll be watchign it.

THIS YEAR SUCKS !!, As far as the right people being voted off that is.

This is my first time watching Idol. DH and I agree that Melinda and Lakeisha are excellent. I also like Jordin ALOT, too. But I *really* liked Gina too. I was devastated that she was in the bottom 3, and completely SHOCKED that she was the one voted off. And Haley stayed over her???!?!? She is NOT that talented at all! The only reason she is still there is her outfits keep getting skimpier and shorter!

We were disgusted last night by the results. Especially if Sanjaya makes it to the end - who, in our opinion, is completely talentless and an utter JOKE! - I will never watch this show again.

The way the voting works, and the fact that the American public gets to have all the power, is totally wrong. JMTCW...

Suzanne

P.S. I agree with the other poster about hoping Gina gets a contract out of this. I think she would do very well!

There was no way that she belonged in the bottom 3... I always felt that she belonged in the top 6 of the women (along with Sabrina and Stephanie who have also left).

However, I can say that I did not vote for her. Do all of you vote for each and every one that you felt was a good singer? Or do you vote for just your ONE favorite?

I really wish I had been voting for more than one all along -- I'll start next week. I usually do a call or two in for my favorite ONE which feels like it is not enough for some of these kids who are getting voted off undeservedly.

We dont vote.

But when you saw groups of 3, and one group was the 'bottom 3', you knew it wasnt the talented 3 threesome (Melinda, Lekisha (sp) or the other..) and when I saw Sanjaya with the other 2 (I forget who..), you KNEW which group was the bottom 3. Phil/Haley didnt do well IMO, though they did the BEST they've done (again, IMO).

ALL 9 brought their 'A game' the other night. That being said, Sanjaya just HAS to go.

I about fell out in the floor last night when Ryan called Gina's name to go home! How in the world could Haley be staying and Gina is headed home??? Gina has a beautiful voice. Granted, she's a bit of a rocker and the Tony Bennett night was not her genre but I thought she did a wonderful job with the song that she picked. Haley is a pretty girl but this isn't a beauty pageant. People shouldn't be letting her slide by just because she's wearing skimpy dresses and strutting around on the stage. I'm not saying she's a bad singer--IMO, she's not a bad singer. But, I think that Gina is better and deserved to stay last night. No, I did not vote for her. I vote every Tuesday night and vote for my one favorite (I know another poster was asking about if you vote for more than one person). My daughter has her fav and she gets on her cell phone and I get on the land line and we vote for about an hour. I'd say we get in approx. 30-60 votes each night (DD for her fav-Blake and me for mine-Chris). I do know that some people vote for more than one person. If you have more than one favorite, vote for more than one person!

I was sad that Gina left. I've had 3 favorites in this competition... Chris Sligh , Gina , and Blake. Now, Blake is the only one left. Once he leaves I'll really have no reason to continue watching this year. This has been Idol's worst year in my opinion. And the whole Sanjaya thing just really irritates me.

Better people than Sanjaya went home when the judges chose the top 12. What were they thinking? They're blaming America for getting it wrong, but Simon, Paula, and Randy put him there. They made a few stupid choices for the final 12, Antonella? Haley? Sanjaya? Maybe the public should start voting sooner. If people had been voting when there were 24 talented people, maybe the top 12 would've been better.

As good as Melinda is, I'm going to be surprised if she wins. It always seems like the most talented leaves early. Carrie was an exception, but most years there has been someone in the competition that was far better than the winner. Tamyra Gray and Chris Daughtry come to mind, along with some others whose names I can't remember now.

Next year (if they actually get a next year after this fiasco) they need to really be picky about the talent they choose. Give us a reason to watch again.

I just think that rather than voting for your favorite *person*, we should vote for all of the best *singers* on a particular night.

Technically, that is probably what needs to be done so that it is not a popularity contest.

Ya know what I mean, LOL!!! I confuse myself with my logic but I feel that the voting is somewhat flawed. This is my first year watching/voting.

Luckily, the ones who really deserve the recording contracts WILL get them!!! That is a no-brainer. I miss the old "Star Search" show!

I am just floored when some of the better singers go home! Makes my head spin.

Yo, DOG! I agree almost 100% (I do not think that Sanjaya is the worst one left -- although he has certainly caught the most heat and exposed some of the weaknesses of the show).

The judges should have chosen better and Paul should have worn his shoes.

Well, Cuthie, I am going to have to respectfully disagree with you here! I DON'T think that you should vote for the best singer a particular night. Each and every one of them is going to have one or two bad nights. I thought that Gina did wonderful Tuesday night but that wasn't her genre of music so I think her fans could have cut her some slack and voted for her whether they preferred the song or not. Maybe they took the same opinion/outlook that you did and thought that she didn't sing as well as they had expected (her usual rocker girl songs) and just didn't vote for her because they didn't like that particular song or the way she sang it. Low and behold...she goes home! Now their favorite singer is gone possibly because they thought that someone else did better that night than she did but she has been their favorite all along. Does this make sense??

With every artist, there will be songs that come out that are "not your favorites that they have released/sang". When this happens, it doesn't make me like the artist less. They are still a favorite of mine. Ya know? I am just of the opinion that if you want someone to stay--and yes, AI is in fact pretty much a popularity contest--you have to help them along, whether you thought they were best or not for that particular night. This is how Sanjaya is still there to this day!

But, I totally agree that if the artist is good, they will get a contract either way. Look at Chris D., Bucky, Kelly, Elliott and Katherine from AI 5. They all got recording contracts and all the albums that have already been released (Elliotts just came out and Bucky's, too...I believe...so not including them) have done better than the winner from last season--Taylor.

Please know, Cuthie, I am NOT trying to flame on you!!!! I just respectfully disagree....

I also think that the IDOL part of the competition might mean that the best singer won't and shouldn't necessarily win if he or she does not have a stage presence or style or whatever it takes to have commercial appeal to the American audience. I look at it more as a whole package and would not vote strictly on a one-night performance.....but that's just my take on it...

Gotta agree to disagree but *I* think Sanjaya is CLEARLY the worst, then Haley.

This is the worst idol ever and I've watched since season 1. My kids usually want to watch and I think they've watched maybe 2 times this year. I just listen to it while working

I LOVE Chris Daughtry and he didn't win. I play his CD all the time

I just keep on voting for the same girl every week... week after week. I like the whole package with the particular girl. Besides, she is from AZ!

But I have just been shocked every time one of the better singers leaves. I am not so naive as to think that everyone votes in the same way as everyone else (sorta like in politics!).

I don't feel flamed... I think that it is an interesting discussion and it's making me all kinds of opinionated on something that I could really care less about. LOL... Cracks me up.

I vote for the best singers that night. I have never voted for Haley or Sanjaya. They don't even come close to being good in my book. This is the first and probably last year I will watch it. I vote every week with the exception of this past week b/c I was grocery shopping and didn't make it home in time to see them sing, but I did catch the clips they show at the end, and Gina WAS FAR BETTER than Haley. I agree with one poster as soon as I saw who the teams were, I knew who the bottom 3 were. Such a shame it couldn't of been Sanjaya and Haley in the bottom 2, at least we would known one of them would gone home.

I'm disappointed with this year's contestants. Every other year seems to have had more talent. But I enjoy Jordin.

I'm an original viewer - I started watching "American Idol" season 1 back at the beginning - I even went to the concert (yeay RJ Helton!)

I loved last year's group, and the one with Reuben, Clay and Kimberly Locke.

I also bought Elliot Yamin's new CD. I love it!!

I first watched Idol on Tuesday night. My dh said that Gina was not very good. I took one look at her, and said to him "She's gonna be a star". He said, "You think?" I said, "I know!"

I am sure she will be offered something. She has the star power to her, and you can tell. I liked her, and hadn't even heard her sing yet!

Haley, well.. she may not get in by her voice..but I think she might be star material just by her looks alone, as well. Sad but true! I mean, come on, if Paris can do it.. anyone can..LOL

As for Sanjaya.. all I can say is ..........................

oh wait, can't say what I want, so I guess all I can say is YUCK.

Think of all the pop stars that have made millions -- I wonder how *they* would do on Idol!

So many Sanjayas out there in the music industry who lip sync (didn't anyone else notice that Gwen Steffani lip sang that night that she was on Idol???), who use special effect microphones, and just can't sing worth a durn.

Do you really think that Tony Bennett was *sick* on his night to perform? or was he disheartened by the whole thing? I guess we'll never know but I was sad that he wasn't there.

I just had a question about Chris Daughtry...I know that on the radio I've heard him say "This is Chris Daughtry of the band Daughtry"...I was just wondering if he has his old bandmates playing with him?...I think it's nice that he recognizes the whole band instead of just promoting himself as an artist...Do you know what I mean? I hope I'm wording this right. ~Lisa

From what I understand these are not the same guys as in his previous band Absent Element. The interview I read was that he hand picked these guys to be in his new band and to back him in his new ventures.

Here's a link to Absent Element

HI!

I just went to the Daughtry website and the Absent Element website and none of the band members are the same. It does appear that Chris had alot to do with who was a member of his new band (from the info on daughtryofficial.com).

We went to the FREE Daughtry concert in Greensboro, NC and it rocked! Over 23,000 people showed up and we were on the THIRD row of the mosh pit!!! Chris and his band are awesome!!! He recorded his upcoming video for the song "Home" while he was there! It was unreal.......

Gina was my oldest daughter's favorite on Idol. My dd's 8 and loves Idol but was so sad to see Gina go. I liked her, though she may not have been the best she was certainly not the worst!
