Do you have a TiVo?

In the job thread I mentioned that I supply TiVo with the data that populates your channel lineup that you receive. However I do not own one, and have only seeen one at a distance! Our data goes to tons of other places besides this, but it's always ironic enough when a cable company calls and starts asking what their customer needs to do to get their TiVo working, and I try to explain the best I can, but usually end with telling them to call TiVo support. I hear once you get one, you can't imagine life without it! We actually have one set up in the building somewhere, but I've never tooled around with it. So do you have a TiVo?

We have had some sort of DVR for years and I cannot live without it. Right now we have Dish Network and their DVR. That being said, Tivo is BY FAR the best one. Very user friendly!

We've had the DirecTV TiVo for a few years now and we LOVE it.

I always say that if my TiVo went out tonight, we would be at Best Buy first thing tomorrow morning buying a new one!

I could do commercials for TiVo because we enjoy it so much.

And taping American Idol and then watching it an hour later and zapping through the commercials is really neat.

We have Tivo and we LOVE it! We rarely watch any programs at their regularly scheduled time just so we can fast forward through the commercials. We have season passes set up for all of our favorite shows so we never have to worry about missing one if we didn't know it was back on. I just wish we could record 3 shows at once.

We don't have TiVo, but we do have Comcast digital cable with a dual tuner DVR. We have problems with our box from time to time (screen and menu get stuck and you can't change the chanel sometimes) but love having the DVR. We couldn't live without it now, or at least we wouldn't want to.

We had Dish Network with the DVR for years. I once decided to go with comcast, for a cheaper price, then cancelled within a week. 24, our favorite show, came on an hour early and comcast didn't record it. Luckly we were at home and I was able to start the recording with only 5 min missed. We now have Verizon FiOS with a DVR. They are OK. I like Dish Networks DVR is better but Verizon will do.

We have a DVR through DirecTV.
Could not imagine life without it. )
We usually just watch taped shows, nothing "live".
Much faster without commercials.

We have DVR thru our cable. I love not having to won another piece of equipment and as they get updated or change I can just ask for a new one.

I don't think I would be able to do as much as I do w/out the DVR. It lets me watch whenever I want so I don't have to worry about being home to watch survivor etc.

It is SO worth the $10 I pay Comcast every month. I don't know how I lived without one!

Wanna hear something really sad? We're considering getting a second one for the bedroom!

Suz, i have been thinking the same thing. Our thing is with seven kids there is usually always something on that someone else wants to watch. So with our Directv dvr we can make everyone happy. I love zipping through the commeercials too but I often forget to do it. LOL

We have had two Tivos for almost 4 years now (can't believe it's been that long, but we got the first one the weekend after DS#2 was born -- so I am sure of the date -- and the second one three months later).

Yes, it totally changes the way you watch TV and once you get one you never want to be without it (doesn't have to be a true Tivo, just a DVR in general). Honestly, I wish I could take mine on vacation with us. I hate to watch 'live' TV anymore. People who don't have them just don't understand until they get one and see for themselves. It is wonderful, especially if you have kids, because you can pause the show, get the kids what they need (or get them to be quiet) and then go back to where you left off, or rewind a little and watch it again if you missed what was said.

We have a second one for the bedroom. It's kind of a funny story how it happened. We got our first Tivo and had it 4 months until it broke. They only have a 90 day warranty, but we called Tivo and they agreed to send us a new box for $99 and transfer our lifetime service to the new box. They would send us a new one and we would then send the broken one back, however it would take 2 week to receive the new one. DH could not wait TWO WEEKS for the replacement, so we went out and bought a second Tivo the next day. Well, as it turns out the new Tivo arrived on our doorstep 3 DAYS later. By then we had already activated the new Tivo and couldn't return it, so we kept it and put it in our bedroom. Both of our Tivos are Series 2, and don't have dual tuners, so we can't record two shows at once or watch one and record another, so two does come in handy. We also have the 'home media package', which allows you to transfer shows between Tivo units. The kids pretty much use one Tivo & DH & I use the other, unless our shows overlap and then one of us uses the kids Tivo to record our show. My boys are 3 & 6 and they can work the Tivo just as well as I can.

We have both a very nice HD TV, which I won, and generic DVR, and my husband loves both. Honestly, I'm still learning to turn the TV on, and change channels. I only really watch TV socially.

Does anyone remember when several people here on the boards got a free Replay TV 6+ years ago for writing a creative story for a contest on the Replay TV website? LOL Oh, the memories.

I never did win one of them, but I wa so jealous I ended up buying one from Amazon.com (almost free with rebates). I still have that Replay TV. What I love most about it is that there's no monthly charge for usage. My oldest son has it in his room now. I recently bought a Tivo with the dual tuner. I'd have one on every TV if I could afford/justify it!

We have 2 now. When I finally kicked charter to the curb & changed over to directv, we went ahead and got two for free. I can watch and record something else downstairs, but can only record what I am watching upstairs (unless I watch something I taped).

We are addicted to it, and in fact when we went to Louisville for a quick 2 day trip, we were sad at not being able to pause tv (or watch what we recorded).

I have had Tivo for several years now. Absolutely love it! I have it linked up to my computers through Tivo Desktop and transfer movies from the Tivo to the computer and burn them to DVD. I'll give up my microwave, but not my Tivo!
