Fortunately, I don't get canker sores very often. Haven't tried it, but I've heard that Rincinol P.R.N. works good. You should be able to buy it pretty much anywhere. https://commerce.jbutler.com/profess...Product_line=2 |

ok, I have done a ton of research on this subject and have lived with them my whole life so I can feel your pain...literally ![]() Among many remedies I found were using products that cauterize (sp?) the wound, ie. mouthwash, salt, hydrogen peroxide, etc. The over the counter "patches" seem to work well to. They are a gel coating that protects the sore. The absolute best remedy and as far as I am concerned cure is the Rembrant canker sore toothpaste (its called gentle care now, they changed the packaging). It is pricey, but I would pay $50 a tube at the rate I was going!! There is some evidence that they are caused by an allergy to the "detergent" in regular toothpaste (sodium laurel sufate, again sp?). It doesn't foam, but it work great! Hope you get some relief |

I suffered from them when I was younger. Don't get them as often now, but when I was younger it was awful. I never got one or two, either. It was always a mouthful. Toothpaste works well on them. It has to be a paste-type toothpaste, and just dab it on the canker sore. I also used to take Lysine (I think that is how it's spelled, anyway) and it really helped cut down on the frequency of them. |

| Quote: I've never had a cold sore-only the canker sores inside my mouth. I would literally have a dozen or more at one time in my mouth and my dentist told my mom to give me lysine. They are horrible and I hope you find something that works for you. |

I suffered with canker sores all through school and into my 20's. I had at least one a week and usually more. They were horrible. I started using Listerine 2X a day and I no longer get them. When I told my dentist he said it shouldn't work because Listerine makes you produce less saliva and saliva supoosedly helps. All I can say is that it was the only change I made and it worked magic. My sister and cousin also used it and it worked for them. Try it - what can it hurt??

| Canker Sore Relief Hi I am a dental hygienist. In our office we reccomend Breath RX mouthrinse. It helps heal the canker sore faster and also helps prevent them. The secret is the zinc in the mouthwash. You can use it as much as you want because there is no alcohol in it. Its a concentrated mouth rinse so you only need like half a cap full. You can buy Breath RX at Walgreens, CVS, Target, basically anywhere now. It used to be only available thru the dental offices. it would wonders for any kind of mouth sores. It is also great for sore and bleeding gums. |

DH had one a couple of weeks ago. Couldn't get it to go away until he started using Listerine 2-3 times a day. Now DD has one, first she's ever had. Over the weekend she was rinsing about 4 times a day and now 3-4 times before and after school. It really bothers her playing the clarinet. The band has competition Friday and she really needs to get it healed. I'll have to get some Breath RX tomorrow.

Lactinex, it is a milk sugar enzyme, all natural, has to be kept refrigerated. Ask your pharmacy if they carry it. Take 3-4 tablets, 3-4 times a day.....should clear up in a day or two. This works as it puts probotic balance back in your body......and I have found it is the miracle cure for guess what? .... a yeast infection, it will clear one up over night.....

I have gotten them allll my life- have heard that they can be related to cold sores (the dr said it is like a cold sore inside your mouth). Mine have gotten better since I went back on suppressive therapy for my cold sores. I have one right now, but it is because I haven't been taking my pills every day like I am supposed to. I was getting 1-2 a week until I went on the meds in January. I have also used a liquid antacid (like mylanta). It helps to dry them up (like it would for an ulcer in your stomach. I put it in the fridge, then rinse my mouth with it about once every couple of hours. |

I don't have any magical remedy for these things.. I have gotten them my whole life and now 2 of my 3 kids get them, unfortunately. I do know, however, the triggers that bring them on (for us): stress, being overly tired and not getting enough rest, or too much of the following foods - peanut butter/peanuts, citrus, whole wheat bread. Sounds strange, but true. One time, I bought some kind of canker relief kit by Rembrandt - it has a rinse, toothpaste, and some kind of gel in it. I always have that on hand for us, it doesn't seem to speed healing - generally, ours do take just about a week to go away - but it sure helps with the pain. I feel for you, OP! Suzanne

Take a tea bag and roll it up to fit into your mouth where the sores are and leave it in for at least 30 minutes or longer if you can stand it. The reason I say that is because of the taste. It doesn't sting or hurt, but will ease the pain. My doctor and oral surgeon recommend this because tea has a natural ingredient in it that soothes and heals. I have dentures and these often cause the sores and this is what my doc's recommend. They also do tea treatments in the office as well. Give it a shot! *Edit to add that lysine taken daily will prevent future outbreaks. Even though cankers and cold sores are different, the lysine really helps with mouth irritants and prevents outbreaks of either or of those.

When I was a kid I would always get them when tomatoes were in season. My mom always said it was too much acid in my system. She had me put a finger full of baking soda on the sore and let it sit until the soda had pretty much dissolved. It always seemed to make the sores go away.

My mom always had us swish with a little warm water with a lot of salt! Always seemed to help me!
