Question another ipod problem please help

My ipod is skipping all the songs. It does this after sleeping for a while. The only way to fix it is to connect it to the computer. I have to do this everyday. Is this normal? Am I SOL if I take it overnight without bringing my computer with me?

Does yours do this?

DD's does this also, but only to the songs that were downloaded from I-Tunes. It doesn't happen to the songs downloaded from CD's. We haven't figured out the permanent fix either.

One of the main reasons everyone is getting such great deals on refurb ipods is the #1 cause for return was the battery life just kept going down and down and getting worse and worse.
Are you out of warranty?

Emie,
To my knowledge all the battery issues were with the 1st-3rd Generation iPods. Mine was one that was in the class action suit. The newer iPods 4-5th generation have no known battery issues. My replacement iPod battery lasts FOREVER! I barely have to charge the darn thing.

But...if you read the op's original post, the "only" way to fix the skipping problem is to plug it in the computer...doesn't that sound battery related to you??

I don't think its a battery thing. The ipod is less then 2 weeks old and bought new. This is the second one I have had since my birthday in late march. The first one froze so I took it back. I talked to my sister the next day and learned they sometimes do that. This one skips all somgs (most are from CDs) everyday and has froze once.

I found this information on the Apple Suport site

Playing Authorized Tracks

If you’re listening to the songs in a shared library or playlist and your computer is not authorized to play the purchased songs in the list, iTunes skips the purchased music. To listen to purchased music in a shared library or playlist, you need to double-click the song and authorize your computer to play it.

Also some more things to try:

iPod: Troubleshooting songs and audiobooks that won't play

Troubleshooting songs that skip on iPod

If none of the above works and it is only two weeks old I would take it back to the place of purchase and ask for a replacement. Its not old enough to have problems yet!! If they won't replace it, I would contact Apple directly. We're a 4 iPod family and I've never heard of what you are experiencing.

Did you try the reset??

I'd reset it before even worrying. Mine's got stuck on The Knack, and refused to shut off, and that fixed it.
