You could do a birthday in a box, and send it to her. Get her a gift, instead of flowers, something like a necklace or something, and then wrap it, and put other bitthday things in the box, cake mix and frosting, decorations, party hats, the works, and then send it. I've done this before and it was really fun!

I like to give close friends something different. This year I gave my best friend 2 packs of new socks (and a gift card). We were talking a few weeks before about how people just don't usually treat themselves to the pleasures of new socks often enough. She laughed when she opened the package.
