What are your favorite kinds of yogurt

I eat this stuff almost every morning and need some new choices. Currently I eat yoplait light boston cream pie, yoplait light apple turnover or any brand of light cherry. Any other brands/flavors you recommend?

I like to get Dannon Low Fat Plain Yogurt (big container so it will last longer) and add fresh strawberries and Splenda to it. It is VERY addictive.

It would probably be good with any fresh fruit.

I LOVE Brown Cow yogurt and Stoneyfield Farms yogurt. Other people I know love greek yogurt, but it's a little thick for me. I'll use it with honey to top fresh fruit, though.

I like Nancy's. I have to check yogurt carefully to make sure there is no gelatin. A lot of people don't realize that gelatin is boiled hoof, hides, and bones. YUCK.

I like Walmart's Great Value Nonfat Plain, big container. I add my own fruit for sweetness. It does not contain the gelatin that the other poster referred -- I am not a vegetarian; gelatin doesn't bother me but I just like the texture better! It has tapioca added as a thickener. Also contains acidophilus.

I like home made yogurt best. With cooked apples.

That said, I am waiting for Landliebe yogurt to make it here from Germany.

Yum... Mom used to make homemade yogurt and it never lasted for long around our house. It was delish but too time-consuming to make with how fast it disappeared.

The cooked apples sound yummy as well!

All of this is making me hungry! Time to start thinking about dinner.

no flaming here,please!!!!
on an nother board(french women who live in th eUS),we were just talking about it.and were amazed at the non existance of real yogurt.even the french brand yoplait is awful.
we are all bred on yogurts, cheeses and bread....
I can't stomach yogurts here, and now ,since you talked about the gelatin in it.I think it is that.
I am dreaming of chocolate mousse yogurt, yogurt sold in glass jars, that are out this world.coffee liegois, and bulgarian yogurts...

here is a french site where you can order your gorceries and get it delivered(too bad only in france),and those are some of the yogurts....

Auchandirect

shoot,it coems back to the main page.
just put yaourt in the box (before recherche)

Okay who makes their own yogurt and how do I do this? I want your recipes or I can go to cooks.com but I would rather hear how you do it.

annadrose, you can buy yogurt makers. Salton brand are nice. Most yogurt makers will come with instructions and recipes... You have to add starter, ie any plain yogurt or leftover from your last batch once you've done a batch!, warm milk heated to a certain temp (I believe you have to use raw milk unpasteurized milk so that the cultures will grow?!), and then let it go overnight at a certain temperature.

If you go to Amazon.com and do a search for 'yogurt maker', you'll get quite a few returns on the search.

My mom used a thermos...

Yummy.

Edited to add, spoke to Mom.................... you also add nonfat DRY milk. Makes it lots thicker as does whole milk (higher fat, thicker...).

You don't have to use "raw" milk - I use organic milk, because I like the taste better, but any low or full fat milk will do. I bought a yogurt maker on e-bay. It has one bigger container, not 6 or 8 small ones. I like that better. It is really not a big deal to make and you can control almost everything that goes in there (initially you'll need a little starter yogurt for the culture). It tastes very different than yogurt you buy at the store, it tastes like German yogurt.

here is the recipe I use(I buy one small container of plain yogurt)
In a heavy-bottomed 4-quart saucepan, heat milk, stirring frequently over medium heat, to 185 degrees;. Remove from heat, and let cool to 110 degrees;.
Place yogurt in a medium bowl. Using a whisk, gradually stir in cooled milk, about 1/2 cup at a time, stirring until smooth between additions. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap, poking two or three holes for ventilation. Transfer to a warm place (on the counter)), and let sit until milk begins to thicken around the edges and the yogurt is set, about 5 hours.
Place bowl in refrigerator until completely chilled. Reserve at least 1/4 cup of this yogurt to begin next batch. Refrigerate for up to 2 weeks in an airtight container.

I do not use a yogurt maker..

Mom says to use a thermos but I think that it just keeps it warmer if the house is not warm (like in Winter). Also, she adds additional nonfat dry milk. It comes out much thicker if you do.

Yogurt

Recently FoodTv showed a rerun of Alton Brown's, Good Eats, yogurt show. He showed how to make yogurt from scratch and gave some recipes to use the homemade yogurt - if you wanted variety. I'm adding the instructions to the list of things I will get to - one of these days.

We eat Activia Every other day, and drink danactive on the off days that we don't eat Activia (both products are probiotics which contain high levels of good bacteria, so we alternate so we don't end up wasting the benefits of each product).

I also love the Light and Fit Cherry Vanilla, Raspberry and Strawberry Banana.

Fruit on the Bottom, I love Cherry or Raspberry

Frusion drinks are good once in a while, but the sugar content is so high..

But the best, I think is Carb and Sugar Control.. OMG.. this stuff is OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! I lost so much weight when I was eating this three times a day (with regular meals, of course!). But it is just so good, and so good for you!

My favorite way to eat Fruit on the Bottom yogurt is to mix it in a bowl with a cup of cottage cheese in the morning.. IS that awsome! What a great breakfast! Especially if you like Cottage Cheese and Peaches, the FOB Peach is fantastic!!!!!! (You get your carbs and protein in one lowfat breakfast!)

My two boys and I cast our vote for Yoplait Harvest Peach. I'll eat any peach yogurt, but the boys are loyal to Yoplait and do not like fruit-on-the-bottom type yogurts. DH will eat anything but prefers lower sugar varieties (like Stonyfield). None of us like yogurt with sugar substitues ("Light")

Long live peach!

My faves are Brown Cow Plain, Stoneyfield Plain, or if I'm in a pinch I'll buy Dannon Natural Full-Fat Plain. I like to drain in into Yocheese, mix a little Fiber One cereal into it, sweeten with Sugar-Free Vanilla syrup and eat away. Or mix in some strawberries, yum. In my opinion, the only things that should be on a yogurt label are milk and cultures.

I usually buy 32 oz. Walmart's brand of plain or vanilla yogurt or Stoneyfield's light french vanilla. I top it off with fresh or frozen fruit.
