I wouldlike to know as well. I just had to do an in-depth survey with them. I asked them what is was for and they said it was the last step for "qualifying"> I don't think I spelled that right ! LOL

It took about a year and a half for me to get my scanner. After I got it and saw all the big manuels and complicated gizmos. I handed it over to bf and told him to have fun! He was into it for awhile, but the scanner kept malfunctioning and we kept having to get replacements, then bf just got tired of it all and just sent the scanner back for good. Not worth the hassle, but we did get some nice freebies without even cashing in any points.

Ten Year Participant!

I have been a Nielson scanner for exactly 10 years. I initially hoped to win a car, and that could still happen (always an optimist). I have earned enough through consistent participation to get almost anything in their catalog for free. Through being a Nielson scanner, I enjoy letting the retailers know that they are not manipulating me, and I shop with my head on, and am not tripping over all their inticements to buy. There are lots of surveys that are in addition to scanning, and I do think these surveys influence the market. I never intended to stay with them this long, but it has become a habit, and I do see my earnings with them like having a "slush" fund, so for whatever reason, I will stay on-board. I have had good support from them, and very little problems with my scanner.

How much do you get for participating?

I did this a couple of years ago. It got to be too much of a pain so I sent it back. When I did a small shopping it wasn't too bad, but a large shopping trip was a nightmare. You have to scan every item. Some things you have to put the price, if you used a coupon and maybe if it was on sale. It just took too much time. If you have a small family it would not be too bad. I didn't get paid, but I got points that you can use to buy things.
