I just thought this would be another good topic. What is everyone's views on what Rosie has said vs. what Imus said? Imus got booted off the air for what he said, why shouldn't Rosie, and for everyone in defense of Rosie, are you also in defense of Imus? And if you aren't a fan of Rosie and want her off the air, do you also think it was fair of them to kick off Imus.

If Imus got kicked off then Rosie should get kicked off. Rosie insulted the Asian community and Imus insulted the Afican American community. And what Imus said is said all the time in rap lyrics, etc... so technically it's not as bad as what Rosie said!! I also have a problem with Rosie being on a major network. You have to have cable to get Imus.

Thanks for the reply, I just wanted to see if there was a double standard out there, with people yelling to have Imus kicked off the air, but to keep Rosie on. That's how it has seemed by the media's standards, they covered what he said so much, but everything that Rosie says never gets press coverage (which is IMO equal to what Imus has said, but she does it ALL the time). Does anyone think it's a double standard possibly because of her alternative lifestyle??? I just think this is an interesting one to debate.

I don't listen to Imus and I don't listen to Rosie. I don't listen to big mouths in general (sorry Donald Trump...don't like you either). I think there is a huge double standard in society in general over things like this and many many more.

I think Rosie is so vocal in defending Imus because she knows she is also on very thin ice.

Has Rosie defended Imus? I would think that would be big news.

She has been going on and on and on about how he should not have been fired because it's simply a matter of free speech.

She's said she doesn't agree with what he said, but that everybody has the constitutional right to say whatever they want to. She also kept saying that "those four words should not cancel out a 40 year career".

Joy has also agreed that Imus should not have been fired because "it's a free speech issue".

Elisabeth is the only one who wanted him "gone".

I also do not believe Imus should have been kicked off. I do not in any way shape or form believe he should have said what he said. I agree, there is a hugh double standard going on.

No what I would think the big news would be how many really right wing conservatives are defending IMUS. That is really amazing. (or maybe they just assumed all angry old white racists are right wing ) He is actually a bigger liberal than Rosie and gave democrat candidates huge amounts of air time.

It's sad really because he does so much good but he has a long history of calling blacks - gorillas, saying "theiving Jews" is a redunancy, etc etc He even took an on air pledge not to do it anymore. Finally calling a group of hard working, high achieving young women whores was simply the last straw for a lot of people.

So yes I think it was time for him to go. If Rosie angered a community once it's between her and the community if she continues to do it then yes remove her too.

More than racism I want to see anger removed from the airways period It has deeply affected us as a society and not for the better obviously.
