Sanjaya - OMG - what an absolutely horrendous performance! Hideous, Awful. Absolutely terrible.

I am on the east coast too. Make sure you watch the beginning as Phil and Jordan go first adn they both do awesome!! I think Simon has had his fill of Sanjaya...he got into a spat with Ryan about it!

Missed Phil, am sorry about that because I am one of the few I know who likes him and thinks he has not been getting noticed by the public fairly. Did see Jordin and thought she was AWESOME!!! Surprisingly, thought Likeshia was way below her usual level of voice.....and Sanjaya, well, just the same old awful voice. But, he has gotten very cocky, in my never to be humble opinion, and seems to believe all he has to do is show up and he will eventually win this thing. I do believe that people (meaning the public) will finally tire of him and his new attitude.....at least I hope so!!! Sorry to the MCer who has him in the "lotteries" here, but I want him gone about 5 weeks ago!

Boy tonite everyone seemed a little tense! I don't know if it's was because of the shooting at VTech but boy Paula, Randy and Simon seemed snippy and a little uptight. And when Ryan and Simon got into the little verbal exchange.... Yeesh.

And I agree; Sanjaya was HORRIBLE. He almost exudes an attitude of "I don't even have to try, all I need to do is stand here and flash my oh so arrogant grin".

I missed Phil and Jordin's (though in the little recap she sounded good) performance. LaKisha was not good and I totally agree with the judge's assessment. Melinda was pretty good, but I just don't really care for her. At least right now, maybe later I will change my mind.

I think LaKisha is gone. To me she does not even look like she wants to be there anymore.

Has anyone seen the dude on Nacho Libre? Not Jack Black but his sidekick in the movie. Sanjaya LOOKS like him . Look out ya starstruck teenagers because that is probably what Sanjaya is going to look like when he gets older lol. ewww

Sanjaya was horrible. PLEASE MAKE HIM GO HOME, I don't want to hear him, or see him. LaKisha was bad last night. I still don't like Chris. I still like Jordin the best out of any of them. Melinda Doolittle does absolutely nothing for me.

The guys don't really wow me that much but I would take Blake and Phil any day over that Chris.

I haven't been watching faithfully...but was anxious to see if anyone would sing Martina's "With a Broken Wing". Martina has amazing vocals and I was amazed at how well Jordin sang that song!!

Is it just me or do none of the contestants that are "good" look like marketable "American Idols"?

My commentary :

• Phil was fantastic last night, definitely in his element.
  
• Jordin was also terrific (go girl!).
  
• Melinda was quite good but I was happy that Simon told her to ditch the surprised-I'm-good shtick.
  
• Lakeisha is not going to be a country singer, so please take off the boots. LOL. They looked really stupid with that dress.
  
• Sanjaya s*cked and looked like an idiot with the bandana on his head. I hate his cheesy smile and his sass.
  
• Chris gave another Chris performance. Same old thing. I do not see what people see in him; he is not at all versatile. Also has a cheesy smile.
  
• Blake was just OK given that country is kinda outside his scope.
  

I think all of them are marketable in some way (even Sanjaya LOL), especially Blake and Jordin.

Those are my feelings in a nutshell.

I was so glad that Simon told Melinda that. I can't stand the squinty-eyed look that she does. Very annoying.

I think that every one of them has a chance at pop-stardom which (in my opinion!) doesn't require a lot of talent. I can't believe that I just said that.

I love Blake and/or Jordin. Country didn't do well with Blake but he has certainly grown on me from the beginning. His singing voice reminds me of U2's Bono although he seems to favor a different style... Very unique.

I think that Sanjaya should go tonight but haven't really wrapped my mind around who *will* actually go if he doesn't? Hmmm...

If Sanjaya doesn't go, I think Chris should....just my not-so-humble opinion though....

Lakeisha just didn't do it for me last night.
I thought Melinda's song was hot!
I wanted to like Chris and Phil's performances better, because I like them, but just didn't feel it...
I think that Chris or Lakeisha are going home.

My take on last night:

Phil--Did remarkably well! I am not a "Phil Fan" but he was most definitely in his element last night.

Jordin--She's the best, IMO! I was so worried when they said she was singing "Broken Wing'". OMG...nobody can sing that song like Martina McBride! Well...Jordin did a wonderful job! I was suprisingly happy for her.

Melinda--She's REALLY good. She's not my favorite. But, I think alot of it has to do with what Simon said about "not looking surprised" when he gave her is comments. She IS good and she KNOWS she's good. Her look of surprise was fine at first. Now...it's getting VERY old!

Lakisha--She is staying the same each week. But, this week she wasn't as good. Again...song choice~~picking a former Idol's song was probably a mistake. There was no way that she could do "Jesus Take The Wheel" justice. She has a remarkable voice but that was not the right song for her--IMO.

Sanjaya--He's never going to leave!!!! But, I can see him going home in the next two weeks (though most likely not tonight..unfortunately). He was pitiful last night. He butchered that song and I use to really like it--sadly, not anymore. I will never listed to that song the same again (as w/all his songs thus far!).

Chris--Sadly, he has been my favorite (though I know I am in the minority). He didn't do too well last night. His singing was not up to par and when Simon called him on it, he should have just kept his mouth shut and accepted the critisism. He and Simon exchanged words and I think that was a mistake for him. I did appreciate the nice words about the VA Tech tragedy though some sites have posted that he did this for a sympathy vote. I do NOT agree that he did it for this reason. Being from VA too, I thought it was nice of him to speak up. His timing may not have been the best but he got it in when he could. This was about the only time he could speak...after his critique from the judges. Myself, I think his words were sincere. If he, being from VA, had said nothing, people would have thought he was cold-hearted and disconnected.

Blake-This is my daughter's favorite. I think he did a so-so job last night. He can sing...that's what counts! Maybe last night wasn't his best but.....alot of them had a rough night last night.


AS FOR MARKETABILITY::

Phil could be a country artist, I can see that.

Jordin IS a pop star! She'll get a record deal--win or lose.

Melinda is a wonderful singer. She will get a recording contract whether she wins or not.

Lakisha could possibly get her a recording deal. She sings well.

Sanjaya is a joke. I cannot see him doing anymore than that William Chung did. Granted, Sanjaya can sing better that the Chung boy but......I am still not a fan. I would not buy his CD.

Chris is a Pop/R&B type guy and his looks make him VERY marketable. My daughter has some of his songs that were on americanidol.com that were recorded in a studio and he is not nearly as nasaly when recorded.

Blake is another future pop star. He can sing most anything....Nice voice.

MY PICK FOR THE BOTTOM THREE:

Lakisha, Chris and Sanjaya---with Chris or Sanjaya going home. Some sites (votefair.org) has Lakisha going home!!! That would surprise me though. I don't think Sanjaya will go home (not quite yet). I fear that this may be Chris' week to go home!

Everyone did well except Sanjaya...My god can he get any worse. I think it was sweet of Chris to make the statement to VA TECH, but wasn't impressed when Simon decided to do so while he was critizing(sp) Blake....Should of waited till it was over and then said something.

Is anyone about to choke Randy Jackson besides me? Every time, its "So check it out." and if he doesn't like a performer he goes, "I don't know Dog, I don't know." Just come out and say what you think instead of starting to mumble and send it over to Paula. That drives me crazy!!! Just say I didn't like the performance...lol.

I thought Jordin and Melinda did the best. I missed Phil b/c I was watching a special about VA TECH. But I caught his performance when they showed all of them and wish I had seen the entire thing, he sounded very good. Blake did okay but he's doesn't have that country voice. Chris sounded just like Rascal Flats, I thought it was a very good job but I think he made a mistake getting into it with Simon over his nasal voice....that nasally voice has come out in every song for me.

My bottom 3 predictions: Sanjaya(? Please God...Pray hard people), Chris, and Lakisha with Chris or Sanjaya leaving.

I'd have a lot more respect for Randy if he would just say what he means and not look to the audience for approval of his opinion. I mean, that's why he's there - to express his views of the contestant's performance.
The "dawg" thing is so worn and old and annoying. I think he needs to find a new slogan or something.
