Have you found any yet? How many? What kind? We are still waiting for them to pop around where I live. How do you cook yours?

I dip mine in egg, milk, and flour and fry them. Can't wait to find some!!

I like to hunt them better then eat them.

I have never done this before........Are you scared that you will get some bad mushrooms and get sick?

I don't hunt them. I buy them in the grocery store. I have heard that there is a poisonous type in the wild that appear to be alright to eat by appearances. I'm too scared to eat something I am not certain is safe.

No I never really thought about anything like that until I started reading the internet I was raised to hunt mushrooms(I know that sounds funny like I have some animal instinct doesn't it? ) but I do look on the internet to try to see the difference between the good and the bad if I am ever in question about something or I will just throw it out if I am suspicious.

We like the morels and we will take the p#cker heads too if we find them, I can't think of the proper term they are called but that is what I have heard all my life. Sorry if it offends anyone.

Doesn't offend me!! I do love me some friedmushroom though!!! Sounds good, GREAT now I'm hungry!

Growing up in the U.P. of Michigan we use to pick mushrooms in the Spring, Summer and Fall.

Morels in the spring, usually in May right after the warm rains would start....in the summer time it would be the fairy rings and puff balls (don't know the correct name for these) ....and in the fall it would be the shaggymanes and stumpies (don't know those names either). LOL!

Loved, loved, loved to go mushroom hunting. Unfortunately, here in Alaska I don't know anyone who can give me the ins and outs of what do find here.

Just about march I start counting down the weeks...........I LOVE MORELS!!! My heart races just at the thought of hunting and finding them........I look forward to this proabably more than anything all year! We live in Northern lower Michigan. I just wish I were better at knowing where to find them! MMMM I can't wait!!!!

My DD came in the house screaming and shrieking today, scared me half to death all because she found a morel out by our garden. I guess they are popping!

Have a question for you. Do you guys know any websites that could be used to IDing any Florida mushrooms? We get these really Fat topped mushrooms. I mean this things that pop up here are like 6 inches across.

I haven't been mushroom hunting since I was 5 or 6 so more then 40 years ago. My mom used to cook those big tree mushrooms like a steak. I will try cooking them your way. My mouth is watering.

My dad thought he could mushroom hunt when i was young...NOW we all have a great story to tell during the holidays about how dad ate some weird 'shrooms and things looked all weird and the stairs were moving..... He never went hunting again...LOL I think my mom threatened to hurt him if he did it again....LOl MEN!! How do some of them even survive without a good woman to watch over them....

Where do you live? It can't be in northern Michigan, it's been too cold. Today was our first really nice day in days!! Good for you though!!
