This is not meant to offend you, simply information seeking, but I am SO confused, maybe you can clear this up. You have been a very LOUD voice in the last few days regarding what SHOULD and SHOULDN'T be allowed, what others SHOULD and SHOULDN'T be able to do with one's OWN body, and have decried all pro-choice people to be PRO-ABORTION. You have rallied strongly for censorship and conservative values. For all of these things, I applaud you for your convinctions. I vehemently disagree with you on ALL counts, but will defend you right to express your opinion forever. With that being said, I find it confusing as anything to see you state that " Boart rules!!!" I TOTALLY agree, it was by far the funniest movie I have EVER seen. I laughed from start to finish. but did we watch the SAME MOVIE?? That movie offended almost every class, race and creed of people possible. From "Retards" to Jews, to Blacks, to country folk, to women's groups to affluent White anglo-saxon people, to homosexuals. I loved every minute of it. I cannot for the life of me get my mind around how someone who is so outspoken and PC as you; can think a movie like Borat RULES? So even though it offended some and made fun of many, because YOU found it funny, it should be free from censorship? Many people would hate the movie, and it goes back to the original point- If you don't like it, TURN IT OFF! What if the goverment decided that Borat was horrible and jailed every person that watched it? Last edited by CouponCourtney; 04-20-2007 at 10:24 AM. |

Here's another thing that will blow our socks off! I took my 15 yr old to see Borat with me! High Five!!! He had to do an autobiography for his English class and was really struggling with it. He's a very, very smart kid but not too motivated. Since he's been talking Borat for two years I told him to write it as Borat! So he did! I emailed the teacher to explain why it was written the way it was and she emailed back and said he wouldn't get full credit if it was done as his alter ego. So I told my son and said he could still turn it in if he wanted to, it was up to him. He also had to do an oral tape of it. It was hilarious!!!!!!!! Espcially since he has Jewish relatives on one side and German ones on another. He came home from school on the day his tape was played and started to tell me about about the teachers reaction. He said she put her head on the desk. I though, oh no, he's in trouble now. But then he said she looked up once and her face was bright red from laughing so hard!!! lol She loved it! lol When you understand what is behind Sachas character you see what his message is. We talk Borat in this house all the time. We have a riot. My oldest sons friends all call me "mom" and have for years because they are "free" and comfortable at my house! They know they can talk to me about whatever they want. And yes, we've had discussions about abortioin, etc... My best friends daughter with the two kids out of wedlock called me first to say she was pregnant and how could she tell her mom?? I'm a lot different than most of you probably think I am. |

I agree with CaddyLisa... and often feel in the same boat. I read this board as a way of 'getting away from it all'... and here lately, I've been having to pass by a lot of threads that are getting too toxic for my personal taste. But, I do understand that some people need to vent and are homebound and/or other and this is their release. PS... I also have a very hard time seeing the screen. I put my text on the largest that I could without having to scroll too much but it is hard (especially on really long posts). Heh. Aging eyes! |

Kathy, I think you have the right to say whatever you believe in your heart. As others have said -- this is America and we all have free speech! I agree with you on a lot of things. I haven't seen Borat yet. I've got it ordered on NetFlix. However, one of the stunts he pulled was done in Salem (near where I live) and it was in his movie. (Where he made a mockery of the flag, etc. at the rodeo). I'll tell you, the people there didn't know he was filming for the movie and if he hadn't gotten out of there when he did, he probably wouldn't have been alive to finish the making of that movie!! Seriously! Wow, people were so mad. His freedom of speech just about ended in Salem!! |

| I just have to say that I don't think Kathy is trying to force her opinions on anyone, any more than anyone else here on these boards. She is letting people know what things she values, just as so many other people have done, just because it's not something you agree with, doesn't mean she is trying to force her opinions on you. Now, I do have to say, I think it's a different thing for Rosie O, because she has a national platform do air what she thinks... Kathy, maybe you should try for a spot on the view... Then it would be really fun to watch.

At the top of the page, on the left, there is a link. The wording is white, and the banner is blue, it says USER CP. You can click on that, and if you scroll down, you can see who gave or took points from you. You won't be able to see if/who took from someone else, but, you can see who is giving or taking points from you. I don't understand the whole points thing myself, and don't pay much attention to them. HTH.

I noticed that too that Kathy's points are lower. I gave Kathy "I approve" points yesterday! She can see who has given her "I disapprove" points. Kathy is expressing her opinions just like we all have. I happen to agree with Kathy. I don't know what the purpose is of point giving (or taking) unless it's just so you'll be able to see who agrees with you or not. I think it's great that we all have different views on things. If we all were the same, it sure would be a boring board. As a matter of fact, I've been on the boards more the last few days since we've actually gotten into really good discussions. Go let the debates continue!!! |

I did not even know you could check who is giving/taking points. I need to get more in the habit of giving them. Thanks for letting us know. Darlene

I have heard of groups doing this at the funerals for service members killed overseas, too. That's why President Bush singed the law making it illegal to do so. A group of bikers stand by and don't let them protest tho. There is a time and place for certain things. Clearly these people have no class. Definitely NOT a way to get your point across, IMO.

You learn something new everyday!! I had no idea about it and I have never used it for anyone. And to that one person, who I will not name, who was rude on mine. So sorry i offended you with my "are we to P.C." post and NO it did not make my day.

![]() I don't understand the whole rep. thing. I mean, I give people rep. points for good topics, and for participating. If we didn't participate, we wouldn't have a discussion. Now, if someone were to do something totally rude and ignorant, I might have to neg. them. But, then they can look and see who did it (bet the people that neg'd you gals didn't know we could do that) and neg. them back, kind of tit for tat. OT, I know, but, I think the points thing, well, I don't understand it.

I wish I could remember the web site for this group. It seems to me like I google'd them after they made an appearence here at the funeral of a fallen soldier. If you go to their web site you can see just how "SICK' this group really is. They call themselves "Baptists" but I don't know of any Baptist church who would behave any ways close to their behaviour. Actually what they are doing is wrongfully blackening the name of the Baptist faith. As for the Patriots (the motorcycle group), they are a group who was formed just for the prime purpose of shielding the families of fallen soldiers at the funerals. I also read some of their web site (address was posted in local paper) and their own forums board. These people come from miles and miles away to help shield the funeral processions. They each carry a large American Flag and ride between the funeral procession and the "SICKOS". The flag helps create a shield. These people are an awesome group. They come from all walks of life. If you ever encounter them in your area, please treat them kindly.
