DS turns 16 Sunday, I'm so excited...

we bought him an 2005 Camaro. He is going to be so surprized. We have been telling him we were only going to pay around $2000. He has been pouring through Ebay and newspapers like a mad person, lol. We keep finding something wrong with everything he shows us. he he he He is pretty much convinced we aren't going to find "the perfect" car by Sunday.

I can't wait to see his face!! We are going to get up at 5am on Sunday morning and sneak off and pick it up. (Right now it's hid in a bay at Dh's shop) Then bring it home and put a great big bow on it and park it right in the middle of the front yard. So he will see it as soon as he opens the door to go outside. (We are going to wake them up early with the excuse of going out for breakfast)

He got an attitude over something last night and DH and I joked privately that we should go find an old Pinto and sit it in the front yard. LOL

I think DH and I are more excited to see him than he will be to get it.

OMG, He was absolutely thrilled. We have spent the day showing it off to his friends, grandparents, pretty much anyone that would look at it. LOL He was so surprized.

Then he had a family party this afternoon. We are just getting back in and I'm wore out.

Happy Birthday to your son
He has very cool parents! My DD would love a car for her 16th(which is tomorrow) but I just don't think she's ready yet.
We're getting her something that will make her just as happy, a laptop. She's been begging for one so she should be really surprised!

My son turned 18 in January and he did NOT get a car. He isn't ready yet either. He's going to take behind the wheel drivers ed this summer. He is autistic so I didn't think he was ready yet. He got a desktop computer for christmas and I had a lot of fun trying to pull it off without him knowing about it. I had to carry it upstairs when he wasn't home and hide it in my closet. Then I got up at like 4 am Christmas morning to set the whole thing up in his room. Luckily he slept in the living room that night. So I got it set up and had the screen saver say "Merry Christmas Donovan". He was speechless he was so surprized!!!!

Although he got the car I have a feeling it will be a while before he gets to get behind the wheel. I refuse to let him get his permit till he gets he grades to a certain level. Right now I don't think he will pull it off by May the 18th (last day of school). If he doesn't it will be at the very least after the first 9 weeks of the next school year before it's even a possiblity.

crzy4cpns - Isn't it so much fun surprizing them.

We're the same way . We told DD that her drivers license is something she has to earn and is not entitled to it before the age of 18! She let her grades slip this year so we told her that until she can show us she's as commited to her grades as she is to wanting to drive, no car. She, of course, whined but I think she finally got it as she now studies everynight and is doing better in school.
So, big kudos to you and your DH from another set who can relate

I'm so glad you put this part in. I was so afraid you were like a lot of the parents around our area who get their 16 year old a nice sporty car and let them go. That's why I hadn't posted. I didn't want to be a 'party pooper'. But it's nice to get your child something you know he'll absolutely love! I bet he was strutting at school today and telling everybody about his great present!! And oh, I remember when my boys were looking for cars and we had so many used car magazines in the house. Enjoy the moment! I know you and your DH were so excited, too. Hope you got lots of pictures!!
