Thumbs down Will these gas prices leave you homebound this summer?

I'm hearing they will top out at $4.00 a gallon. We have traded in our expedition for a little honda, so we can at least afford to get my kids to preschool and the grocery store. What is going to have to happen for these prices to drop? Will this leave you homebound this summer?

Where did you hear that? Last I heard, prices were supposed to come down this summer?

We don't go out a whole lot anyway, want to go to Vermont this summer but that's looking very unlikely, if my husband gets this job we're hoping for then we'll be living apart over the summer and that will just suck for traveling to visit each other if it's that high!

I'm kinda bummed about it-- we have a road trip scheduled to New Hampshire to visit my hubby's family, whom we haven't seen in 4 years. I really hope gas prices come back down before we go.

We live on an island in Alaska so we have very little road to travel on! LOL! So my road travel is limited whether I like it or not! LOL!

Well you know someone out there is laughing all the way to the bank.

I keep hoping we get to take our vacation but it is looking like chances are slim to none!! I really wanted to go see my SIL and my niece and what the heck the rest of them too I think

We will just have to wait and see.

I haven't heard of gas prices going that high. I'd heard more along the lines of last summer, around $3.

No, we wont be homebound this summer. I actually have to go to school 4 days a week and we have to travel to a wedding in July. I also have a son who will be driving himself to work so that is going to add a bit to the car insurance and gas budget!

It will keep us homebound. We like to drive up to the mountains, but gas is just so expensive. I also LOVE going to yard sales, but last summer I wasn't able to go much because of the gas prices and I'm sure this year will be no different. I just stick to community sales so I can go to a bunch at once rather than driving all over town for the spread out ones.

We are paying 2.89 unleaded 2.99 leaded......3.09 premium.......ITS CRAZY!!
We already have a gas slot in our budget spreedsheet so it won't keep us in. We just trade driving from school everyday to driving where ever we are going that day to entertain the kiddies!! Luckily there are alot of free things to do here for kids, so we sorta swap.

WE ARE LEAVING FOR OUR ADULT VACA IN 12 DAYS!!!!! We rented a convertible, I've never had one but, love them!! and we are driving all the way to the Keys, I wanted to fly into Miami but DH says he wants to see what its like to be able to actually have a conversation with me in the car!! LOL

No, it won't really change our "mobility" plans this Summer.

I think I will be home more. Right now "regular" is $3.03, "super" is $3.13 and "supreme" is $3.23 and those are at the CHEAP stations. I think Costco might be a cent or two less...maybe.
Of course all of our vehicles are gas guzzlers. Hubby does have a diesel so it is just a tad bit better, but he uses it for work all day.
Depressing....

I forgot to add that here in Alaska, I pay $3.31 right now and it will only go higher. In the last two years, the lowest it has been for us was about $2.69.

Well, we will still work, but I work part time and I can work my own schedule (23 hours a week) I have already cut back to working my hours in 4 days a week instead of 5 days a week and I will work all my hours in 3 days if gas goes up to $3.00 a gallon. We are currently paying $2.73. We live 20 miles from where we work, drive 2 vehicles, so 80 miles total X 5 days a week (DD has pitching lessons in the same town, so even though I cut my work schedule back a day, I still have to take her to pitching lessons, I was making 6 trips a week, now 5). We are not planning on taking a vacation this year, will plan on day trips instead.
