Question Bladder Infection?

I have never had one but I think I might be in the beginning stages of one . I have uncomfortable pressure above the pubic bone and have a frequent urge to urinate. Do you have to go to the Dr. or can you cure this at home.

I'd probably go to the dr's office. Drinking lots of fluids (some say including cranberry juice) is good for you. Also cut back on caffeine containing drinks, they tend to make you feel like you need to go alot.

Definitely go the doctor, You need an antibotic. The pain will get worse, if you wait. They also can give you some pills with the antibotic that will color your urine, but it will help with the pain.
I wouln't take anything like azo standard that you buy over the counter, it won't cure the problem.

There is nothing worse than a bladder infection...sorry to hear that. Unless you have had one, you can't understand how painful it is. Yes, I would definitely call right away and get into the doctor today if you can. It will only get worse. One time I took that over the counter stuff, Uristat...It did relieve the pressure for awhile, but when I got into the doctor's office, they were disappointed that I took it because...when they do the urine test, they can't correctly do it when the urine is colored...taking this stuff turns your urine sort of orange colored. So really, it's best not to take it if you can get into the doctor's office right away. They say that cranberry juice will help ward off from getting these infections, but once you've got it, only an antibiotic will clear it up. The only time I used to get them was after alot of activity...if you know what I mean...three kids and years later, there's not much of that going on so no wonder I don't get them anymore! Hope to help. ~Lisa

I get these about once every 2 years. The last one I had was different at first. It started with a sharp pain right above my right hip and I just thought I pulled something, at times I had trouble standing straight!!. the part where you could tell it was a bladder infection, because of the peeing, didn't appear for about 3 days, then it was bad!
So, please go to the DR. now...because it takes about 24-36 hours for the meds to bring relief, at least for me.

I get them, too. I used to go to the doctor with them but now I take care of them myself. I take a cranberry pill every day. Since I've started with the cranberry pills, I hardly ever get them now. Now if I do (which is rare), I just double up on the cranberry pills, drink cranberry juice, lots of water and nothing with caffeine in it for 3 or 4 days. Clears it right up.

Once you give a urine sample and get a scrip for antibiotics, I would highly recommend taking the Uristat as well. It makes you feel so much better faster in addition to tons of water, c-berry juice, etc.

Run to the doctor!! I have one right now! I went in on 4/11 to get checked out because I knew I had a bladder infection, but the dip test showed nothing...was giving 3 days of antibiotics...by monday 4/16 I still had the infection. I called the doctor to find out my culture results...they couldn't find them will call me back. It turns out that they did send it in because the nurse knew I didn't have one and they didn't want to waste the labs time. Well a week later it I go back get another dip test, guess what? I have one, now I am on another 7 days of drugs.

Drink water and cranberry juice and their is Azo to ease the pain but get to a doctor!

I have them pretty regularly. The pressure sounds like it and going to the
bathroom frequently IS another sign. Alot of times you think you
have to pee alot (from the pressure) and you barely go at all. Alot of times I
have no pain when I urinate and other times it hurts really bad.

You will definitely need an antibiotic. There is no way to get over a
UTI (urinary tract infection) w/out antibiotics, that I have found!
I have tried cranberry juice, cranberry pills, drinking monsterous amounts
of water~~nothing will get rid of it. All you have to do is tell your Dr. and
then pee in a cup. It's very simple! But...don't wait. It WILL get worse.
I speak from experience. You can get some of the AZO Standard to help
with the pain (if there is pain when you urinate). It will turn you urine
orange and stain panties but works GREAT! But, this only masks the symptoms.
You CAN use the AZO Standard (OTC drug at most all pharmacies) even if
you are going to give the Dr a urine specimen.

HTH and feel better soon!!
