Rosie is leaving The View!

She is supposed to announce it on the show this morning.

There had been talk that she'd only stay around for a year.

They just announced it !!
I have mixed feelings about it, I like Rosie but she has gotten on my nerves on The View.
I hope they find a good replacement

Just watched it and she's leaving because she said they couldn't come to an agreement with her contract, but she said she will be back to visit

Was this her choice or a mutual decision? Not agreeing on contract, basically saying not enough money?

She said one of the things was ABC wanted her for three years, and she just wanted one. I don't think the money is an issue for her.

She said she'd be back next year to guest co-host and do some hour-long specials on autism and depression.

They just said that Alec Baldwin will be a guest on Friday's show. He wants to talk about parental rights. He and his ex-wife Kim Basinger have been battling for years over their daughter. I'm sure they'll talk about the voice mail incident too.

By the way, Rosie will be with the show through the end of June.

After the Star incident, I am very skeptical of the official reason given for Rosie leaving. The excuse probably saves face for both of them and they can give any reason for her leaving but I am not buying it.
I've noticed tension in the air for the past week or so, especially when Barb is around. Barb has been more snappy with her replies too. Just couldn't put my finger on it but I just felt something was up.

I'm sure ABC and Barb was taking a lot of heat for Rosies controversal and explosive comments and probably had enough. I feel that if Rosie loved the job and enjoyed hosting, she would have stayed for two more years. I think she really likes working in front of the camera and in that particular venue.
I am sad she will be gone - she was the reason I started watching again - but her being there was obviously not beneficial for her employer so it is time to go.

I wish her well.

I'm sorry to see her leave too. I only started watching The View when she joined in September. She has brought fresh air to a somewhat stale program. Yep, she is opinionated and will say things that others wouldn't dare to even think, but that is her nature. I'm not sure if I will continue to watch after she leaves. Have they talked about who will replace her? I'm sure that she brought their ratings way up. Wonder what will happen now.

Me too I never liked the show before Rosie. I really like Joy and I will check it out because you never know but I have low expectations.
Rosie is a breath of fresh air on tv one of the few willing to make honest commentary on our lying government.

Since Rosie has been on I try to watch the View everyday. She had only signed on for 1 year to begin with. I was hoping that she would renew her contract. She couldn't say anything without people jumping down her throat so this is probably a good move for her and her family.

Count me as one of the viewers sorry to see her go. The View needs to get one or two spicy hosts to beef up Elisabeth and Joy.

I love Rosie-- after all, the show is called "The View", isn't it? She's entitled to her opinions.
Bottom line, I think she has a big warm heart.
Maybe she'll have her own show again? I hope so!

I like Rosie. She warm, big hearted and very opinionated. I didn't always agree with her, but she makes you think. Sometimes she speaks before she thinks (but don't we all).

With the election coming up, and her strong views, I suspect ABC was worried. It would have been a nice platform for her. She can be a little bit of a shock jock at times, and after Imus the networks are running a little scared.

On CNN an analyst was saying that there are uncomfirmed rumors that CBS is talking to Rosie about having her own show.

I kind of like Roseanne, but she's a little crass for Babs. I don't see that happening.

I won't bother to watch the View after Rosie leaves. Bitsy is just talking to her herself talk. She's a pretty nobody. Babs is so out of touch with the real world. Joy can be funny, but she has a mean streak at times and she can't carry the show alone.

Goodbye View. I think it will sink for sure now. They should just end it while it is on a high note. I hope Rosie wins an Emmie for the View as she leaves!! I think they take place in June, but I'm not sure. The View has never won one.

Donna

Roseanne is kind of wacky but at least she's not mean!!! I loved her show. I have her autograph when she came to Iowa when she was married to Tom Arnold (I have his too)

I am SO glad to see her go. Maybe DH will take me back to Disney World now. He said we wouldn't go until ABC fired her. And I DO think she was fired, or they at least did not renew her contract.

I don't know who is happier, Elizabeth or me!!

Or me? lol I wish they would get another conservative voice on there to even it out. Maybe if they would have Rosie would have been more tolerable and the show would have been more balanced. But then again, maybe not! lol Rosie is kind of a steamroller....

I agree with everything you just said. If people don't want to listen to Rosie, turn the show off. She definately gave it some spark!

I absolutely agree.

I am sooooo sick of 3 people always ganging up on Elisabeth

The consensus seems to be that Rosie was, in fact, fired, but the network allowed her to "save face" by saying that it was a contractual problem.

Let's face it -- if ABC actually wanted her to stay, they would have agreed to a one-year contract: obviously "one" year would be better than "no" years.

I'm glad to see her go since I think she is really going off the deep end these days -- she sounds more mentally unstable every day.

You know, that's what I've been thinking, too. I know she suffers from depression. It just seemed like she was getting more and more 'mental'. She could have expressed her opinions differently than she did. It just seemed like she was angry all the time. Her face showed the strain, too. I remember her when she had her own TV show and she wasn't like she is now.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if we didn't hear she was going into some sort of hospital for depression.
