| Anyone "hyper"thyroid?
I think my thryroid is going haywire again. It started a few years ago, went on meds (PTU) and then got pregnant. During my pregnancy, it balanced out, and I was taken off the meds. For the past 3 years it's been fine, but now I notice my hair is starting to fall out and I'm starting to overheat/sweat. I called my dr. and made an appt. for next week, but I'm really dreading going. Anyone else have this? What kind of treatment did you use ? Is there anything that really triggers it? TIA~ Michelle |

I battled hypo graves for over 20 years. last aug I had my second radiation treatment and it worked. I am now hypo and trying to get stable with meds. The first few times i went hypo it was after pregnancy and considereed trasient [spell?] Then I went hypo again but never saw an endro as there was none where I was living went through years of h*ll and dx with all kinds of crazy things. Most docs only do a tsh not the the free t3 and 4 or antibodies. not until I almost died and had a doc that knew what test to do did I get dx again I then tried meds for 6 months and could not stablize it then opted for radiation in a small does hoping I would luck out and they would kill jsut enough and no meds. Well that so so worked for about 2 years never felt quite well and then 2 1/2 years of sheer H*ll again. I got so sick this last time [ I do have other illnes[ that I ended up in a wheelchair [so much weakness] I opted for a high dose of radiation this time after a year of meds again and am now fighting this uphill battle [although hypo for me is a little better than hyper] I chose not to have the surgery because of my oher illnes it was very risky but if I could have I would have over radiation to kill it off. There are a couple of good yahoo thyroid groups one is the usa and there are indvidual ones for each stae most belong to both state and usa. yes heat problems shaking fingers if you hold ou your arm and had and fingers straight do yur fingers shake. also memory prob. short temper. period troubles hair falling out weight lose or a high calorie intake with no weight gain. sleep problems. bathroom problems, rapid heart beat at times somtimes for no aparent reason., to name a few of the symptoms. Make sure your doc runs a full thyroid panel dont let them tell you they only need to run tsh to then seee what test need to be done. LOL Make sure they know you have been hyper before.
