Well, progress has been made!

We finished the living room, the foyer, and the hall.... we've started on the kitchen. Slowly, but surely!!

Beautiful...! As you recall, I was the white walls person.

Well, I like it! How does it look during different times of the day? I went with a color a few years ago that looked pink at various times of the day. Drove me crazy.

BTW, you also have very nice furnishings and accessories. I really like your style!

Thanks guys!!

It looks great at any time of the day. Those photos were taken yesterday around 3pm. I'd say it's a little darker at night, but not much. We started on the kitchen last night. Ugh! I'm so tired already. PLUS I'm taking advantage of having to take everything off the wall, and cleaning everything at the same time as painting! LOL

Holly

PS-- I work Furniture Market every year, so alot of my peices come from there VERY cheap. Alot of look, for not much money.

The taupe looking color is called "Pony Tail" (C15-3) by Olympic paint in the Satin finish, and the brown is called "Southern Wood" also by Olympic, also in the Satin finish. I purchased the paint from Lowes.

I'll be so impressed if the colors reform a white wall person! LOL Let me know how it comes out!

The color on the fireplace wall looks like what I am painting my LR/DR, with a burgundy kitchen.

looks nice.

That really is funny! I have done color before and then gone back to white. I look around this house and am overwhelmed at the thought of painting but it really did liven up your house!

Thanks for the colors. I'm going to put some serious thought into this after seeing your home.

Did you have to prime first or did you do two coats?

We did 2 coats. Even with primer, I think you would have to do 2 coats because of the color. Painting is so overwhleming, because you have to tape off the baseboards, etc, take down stuff you already have on the walls, move furniture, etc.

BUT, we just did one wall at a time. One wall one night, one wall the next. Slowly but surely. You can do it!

Painting Tip... Being that I paint a lot (and then go back to white!):

*Remove the rollers from the handle and wrap in saran wrap overnight.

It saves a lot on cleanup.

Also, when you are done with a particular color, double-wrap the roller in saran wrap and write the color name on the saran with a Sharpie marker. Put the roller in the freezer and then when you need to do touchup or whatever (?), thaw it out.

It works great!

Nice color scheme. I would be afraid to try two colors just in case I didn't like and had to redo. What color will your kitchen be?

Is your livingroom always this presentable?

Thanks! The kitchen will be the brown as well. Yes, my living room is pretty much always like that. I'm a total neat freak, and very OCD. Now, the upstairs is a different story. LOL

I figured I didn't have much to lose. The can of paint was $18. Why not go for it?

The colors are very similar to mine, except my taupe is a more of a deeper gold. I never would have thought to do the accent wall and my layout looks similar to yours. Very creative! I looked at your "before" picture on the other thread - what a big difference. I am looking for curtains. Is that a scarf you have hanging in the family room?

Look like some colors I have at home, but I did them differently. I did my kitchen a clam chowder color real nice from home depot and my dining I used a metalic silver from ralph lauren cost me $80 for 2 gallons as it has to be painted by spray gun so you canget the right finished and combined it with metalic apricot color I found at walmart in some curtains and it looks great now that it's completely done, but at first my husband thought I was crazy choosing those colors and now he loves them. You place looks nice and you did choose the right colors to go with your home.

Thanks!

Yes, my mom got the scarf for me at Linens N Things last year. She hung it for me, and we had to take it down to paint, and now I can't get it back up there right. Ugh!

Maybe if you check out Home & Garden Television

It is probably a case of needing to wrap it around the pole and secure the ends with rubberbands but I'm not sure what it looked like before.
