Post did this"New and Improved" thing to my favorite Cereal, Blueberry Morning, and I do NOT like it! It was great the way it was..Has anyone else had a favorite product they liked but it was "improved" and now they don't?

Scott Tissue. I have been buying the new kinds of scott tissue, but it just isn't the same.

Coke. They made it "the new coke" and it did horrible so then it was "coke classic" but it's STILL not the same old coke Don't mess with stuff that's already good!

Talking about Coke has anyone tried Diet Coke Plus???

I am so scared that they are going to do this to Diet Pepsi. I love it just the way it is and worry that they will change it.

I know-- I really need to get a life and not worry about silly things but I do love my DP!

They "improved" Tide a few years ago and it's like they put a really strong perfume smell to it. Now the only tide I will use is the stuff with the april fresh downy in it. The original smells awful.

No but the whole concept is just WEIRD. Soda with vitamins??? How about they take the bubbles out of it and just call it JUICE?? LOL

It makes you wonder WHY they change recipes? Was there something else that we don't know about (besides taste) that was wrong with the original?

Why.....because companies need to continually reduce cost and/or win additional market share for their products in order to maintain or improve profit margins. The consumer market is highly competitive.

But, if the item is not selling cuz it is yucko, how are they making profit? If something sits on the shelves without selling and then ends up dumped in the desert because the food banks can't even get rid of it, what profit is that to them?

Ha! Not saying it always works....we all come up with some flop ideas.....just answering the part about why they try to change things....either to make it more cheaply or get some new people to try it.

Well I can tell the reason they made my cereal "new & improved", it was to cut costs, there are less blueberries and almonds and they switched the flakes to rice.....so it's cheaper for them to make but the price did'nt change

I also heard that sometimes it has to do with the patent. The patent runs out, so they have to change it slightly in order to get a new patent on whatever it is. Not really sure if that's true or not, but it made sense to me.

"new and improved" to me is the same as "same stuff with a bigger price tag to attract people who didn't like it to begin with".

Alot of times I think that they smack that new and improved just as a marketing gimmick.
