Depends on what the rent is for the apartment vs. rent for a regular apartment in the area...

I'd want something that is worth at least two months of the rent price difference (if that makes sense?).

Not exactly the same, but similar - we just bought a new home & the builder sent us a nice basket. In the basket was a crock-type bowl with a house painted on it and our last name. The basket & bowl were filled with every type of snack you could imagine - gourmet popcorn, apple butter, muffin mix, honey roasted peanuts, several types of cookies, BBQ sauce, sunflower kernals in choclate candy (similar to M&Ms), etc. It was really nice.

When we rented an apartment while our home was being built, we got a nice gift basket. It was a very nice apartment.

This may sound silly, but I remember going up with (at the time) fiance to apply for a marriage license. They gave us a little gift bag containing several goodies in it including sample laundry detergent, fabric softener, dryer sheets, and a few other cleaning supply type things. I was only 21 at the time, but I was giddy with excitement at receiving the "goody bag".
