| I'm home-- and all is well!
I'm home and actually awake! LOL So, here's how the day went. (This may be TMI, but oh well-- you were warned! LOL)
I got up at 5am after a pretty restless night's sleep. I took a shower to wake up and got dressed, and waited for my friend Tam to pick me up. We had decided Tam would take me so Scott could stay home and get the kids off to school-- then he would join Tam up at the Endoscopy Center.
Tam and I arrived at 6:30am, they checked me in, then took me straight back. They asked me all their questions, (Including "How much of the prep did you drink?", to which I replied "About 2/3", and they said "Oh good, most people only do about 1/2".) then hooked me up to the oxygen, and installed my IV. Next thing I knew, I was waking up in recovery.
Recovery was awful. My stomach hurt real bad, and I threw up from the sedation (I've never handled sedation well). The nurse kept telling me I needed to pass gas, but I just couldn't do it. Every 10 minutes, the nurses would make me roll over, which hurt like hell. My doctor came in after about 2hours, and discussed taking me to the hospital. Apparently, there was some concern over a possible tear. Finally, they are able to get me into a position where I was on my knees, with my butt in the air, (which is very classy, by the way!), and I was able to get some relief. Tam came in and rubbed my back, and finally after about 4 hours in the recovery, they let me go home around noon.
Tam swung by the Juice Shop and got me a juice, (My doctor said that was the best thing for me, and to avoid solid foods for the rest of the day), then she brought me home and I promptly fell asleep. I woke up a few times when the phone rang, but mainly I slept til almost 5pm. I feel ok now, just tired and sore. I'm hungry, but I haven't eaten anything yet.
The verdict? Nothing, nada. WOOHOO! The doctor said everything looked good, no signs of cancer. He did say he wanted to discuss IBS with me, and he still wants me to go have the genetic testing done, since my father had colon cancer.
Major props to my girl Tam who took such good care of me. She went above and beyond the call of duty. And thanks to everyone who said prayers for me. I really appreciate your support.
Holly
