Anyone hear about this? Don't Flash Headlights at any Car with no lights on!

Received this from a Correction Officer friend. Thought I'd share

DON'T FLASH HEADLIGHTS AT ANY CAR WITH NO LIGHTS ON!!

Police officers working with the DARE program have issued this
Warning: If you are driving after dark and see and on-coming car
with no headlights on, DO NOT FLASH YOUR LIGHTS AT THEM! This is a
common Bloods member "initiation game" that goes like this: The new
gang member under initiation drives along with no headlights, and
the first car to flash their headlights at him is now his "target.".

He is now required to turn around and chase that car, then
shoot and kill every individual in the e vehicle in order to complete
his initiation requirements. Police Depts. across the nation are
being warned.

Their intent is to have all the new bloods nationwide drive
around on Friday and Saturday nights with their headlights off. In
order to be accepted into the gang, they have to shoot and kill all
individuals in the first auto that does a courtesy flash to warn
them that their lights are off.

Make sure you share this information with all the drivers in
your family! Please forward this message to all your friends and
family members to inform them about this initiation ritual.

lol... nice to see urban legends are still be passed around the internet.

(not!)

I have no idea who thinks up these things, but I get a bunch of them in my email too.

Especially get this one 2-3 times a day:

the one about the lady who got out to pump gas and supposedly a man slipped into the back seat of her car and the gas station attendant called the police. (yeah right)...another gang initiation. (rolls eyes)

That email is an urban legend, BUT....

I also believe it depends on which area of the country you are in.
We are a military family and when you go to a new base or post you have to attend a briefing. At our last base the first thing we were told was not to flash our lights at any car with no lights on.
Albuquerque, NM has a very large number of gangs / gang related activities and their statistics for guns in a vehicle are 1 to 2 - 1 gun for every other car!! So if you are the one that does NOT have a gun in your vehicle, the person that you just p*ssed of or has a bad case of road rage propably has one.

Oh... if you watch any of the older episodes of COPS... pay attention, almost half of them were filmed in Albuquerque. They are now NOT allowed to film there anymore because the mayor deemed it bad for the image of the city to be featured in that many episodes. LOL

One of the main entrances to that base was close to a high gang activity neighborhood and they had to move the guard shack half a mile back from the main road, since they thought it was fun to shoot at the MP's - yeah... just for fun.
The base housing area we lived in borderded a main road in that same gang neighborhood and the outer row of houses had many a bullet hole in them. They are now on the list to be torn down!

Ok... off my soap box now!

Don't forget to check under the toilet seat in public places. Those little brown spiders might sneak out and bite your butt. Statistics prove that you'll be dead in less than 24 hours.

I flashed my lights tonight to a motorist...my husband started hysterically laughing (he hates driving, can you believe that??) anyway, turns out I flashed a cop!! It was 9 pm and if you looked into the west, the sun was halfway into the horizon but travelling north and south it was clearly dark. The cop just turned south and I was headed north. I thought I would remind "him" to put the lights on...too funny!

Me, too.

I wish everybody would check snopes.com before posting any of this junk that comes in an email.

The search feature at snopes is sooooo easy to use. I just typed in "flashing headlights" and it popped right up as an urban legend.
