Last year for Mother's Day, I won this contest on the radio. The prize was $100 giftcard to a day spa, $100 to a restaurant, and $100 to the mall. Well, I spent the money for the mall and restaurant, but then when I was ready to make the appointment for the day spa, I couldn't find the giftcard. I finally gave up, and figured it was hopelessly lost.

Last night, Scott and I were shredding old receipts and documents from the filing cabinet that we didn't need anymore, and lo and behold-- found that giftcard!! It was in a folder called "Animal Expenses". I guess one of the dogs had an appointment the week I won the giftcard, and I accidentally put it in there with the receipt. I called the day spa this morning, and they said it was still good! I found it amusing that we found it right before Mother's Day.

So, I made an appointment to go on the 25th. I can't wait! This is just what I needed! Have you ever lost something valuable, then found it later?

YES! My diamond from my engagement ring!

It is a tiny thing (maybe 1/4-1/3 carat). My prongs got bent and it fell out. We looked and looked for weeks! I had been outside, to the neighbors, etc. It seemed impossible. I even opened my vaccuum bag and dug through the dust. No luck! We changed the bag and decided it was long gone. (either outside or the dog got it). One day, 2 weeks later, I was vaccumming and I thought I saw it on the carpet and then gone. DH thought I was crazy! It was a new bag and I opened it. It was there!! I couldn't believe it! We think it was in the vaccuum before and hadn't made it to the bag. It saved me about $800 (the replacement value) and untold sentimental value! It truly is an amazing story!

I had a ring when I was a kid that I just loved. I had stored it up in my parents attic. One day, I went to get it and it was gone. It had no real value, just sentimental value. About 10 years later, the roof sprung a slow leak and my mom put a pan in the attic to catch the drips until the guy came to fix the roof. She went up one afternoon to empty it out, and there was my long-lost ring! All we could figure is that a mouse was carrying it around up there, went to the pan to get a drink of water, and dropped it in the pan!
Either that or a ghost! It was a little creepy, but I was glad to have my ring back.

(Geez, I make it sound like my parents were living in a dump with a leaky roof and mice. Really, it wasn't. LOL!)
