I'm expecting my car to be TP'd in the morning!

We have some ruthless kid that lives down the side road. He is 12 and thinks he is bada$$. He doesn't like to play outside his house, so he comes up the road and plays in front of ours. His road is not busy at all, ours has cars all the time on it. By playing I mean he rides his skateboard all over, using our driveway and curbs and so on. The past couple days him and his friends have been "playing" tennis in front of our house. Now I really don't mind his playing, it's his attitude and his friends attitudes I don't like, especially around my kids! Well today tennis was more of hitting the ball as hard as one person could, then the other kid would run to find it 5 houses down the road and hit it back the other way and run to find it.

Problem comes into play where they kept hitting my house with the ball! They did it once and they all ran for cover, then came out and found the ball. 2nd time, I had had enough since it hit my front door, which is very close to a window. The ball stayed on my porch and I went out and they were all "hiding" (yeah laying down on the grass, nope can't seee ya, lol) I said please go use your yard, or the park to play. And thanks for the tennis ball, lol. Oh, also yesterday playing they hit the neighbors car. So after I grabbed the ball we were on our way out to meet some friends and I went down to the kids house and talked to his dad. Dad "said" he would take care of it. I really don't see his doing anything, but atleast he knows. I told him they can play there, but I don't appreciate my house getting hit with the ball and possibly dealing with broken windows.

So I am really expecting retaliation by the kids sometime. They seem like the type to do so. I'm gonna be up all night listening and worrying what they plan on doing. And if not tonight, when will they hit.

When we first moved here I had problems with some kids that lived at the top of the culdesac. I let it be know the the neighborhood busy body that I had installed motion detected cameras. I even bought some of the $2.00 fake cameras and put the up (peel and stick) on the corners of the house. Within 3 days that kid never came back. We've lived here almost 9 years and the kid still doesn't come around here. lol Every time he sees me out somewhere he gives me the dirtyest looks.

That is a fantastic idea! Where did you get the cameras?

I don't even remember now. I'll look around and see if I can find them online.

I found some battery operated fake cameras that even have a blinky light and move on ebay. I paid around $6 shipped for one.

DH thought it was a waste of money, but the battery (one AA) lasted over 9 months.

Sorry took me so long to update.

Nope we didn't get Tp'd and the kids have not been back to play up by our house. I did find three of the kids were from a different house (didn't even know that house had kids living there). I'm glad they are behaving for now.

But the summer is not over, just beginning when we start to see bored kids do dumb stuff to other people's property. So if not from them, I'm sure other kids will do something. But so far so good, I'm just not holding my breath.

The cameras are a good idea but we have no place to put them here.

our yard was tp'ed by my daughters friends when she moved off to college. it was all in good fun and we didnt mind. they even came back and helped us gather up the tp and we , being the frugal people that we are, used it! lol. actually it looked really pretty blowing in the wind. back when I was a kid, there was colored tp and it reallllly looked pretty then . lol. kids around here, if they are mad at you will egg your car. lots more damage than the tp. so hopefully they wont think of that. and with egging, that can be done from the road and not have to actually walk up in the yard. good luck.

Last year we had kids TP and shaving cream our car. Nothing too bad and was easy to take care of, but still a pain and we wondered why us! As I drove around I saw other houses that had some TP and cream on them and their yard and such. Seemed to be a bunch of bored kids with nothing better to do.

A few years ago when my kids were little (maybe 6 & 9) we had some teenagers come up to our door and set off a bunch of firecrackers and run. The neighbors & I all came running out and we chased them a little bit, but I have no idea who they were. My kids were too little. The only run-in I'd ever had with teenagers was at Halloween which was a couple weeks before it happened, some teenagers (I'd never seen before) came to my door asking for beer. I brushed them off and they pushed but I turned them away (with candy). It was very uncomfortable. It was either that or a case of complete mistaken identity.

Our house was egged, oranged (barely missed the windows), and bottle-rocketed several times a year or so ago. This was done from the teenage boy next door from his bedroom window.

We called the police who stopped by his house and said that an anonymous call had come in from one of the neighbors who had seen this going on.

It stopped and we've had no problems since and the boy no longer is in that bedroom! His folks moved him to the basement.

The eggs did a number on the house paint.

I have a funny TPing story!

A couple of teens in our youth group at church decided to TP the new Youth Minister's house. I talked to him and found out he was cool with it (I did not tell the teens, what fun would it be to have permission to TP?) They ended up TPing the wrong house! The Youth Minister and his wife went over and introduced themselves, helped the family clean up the TP and made a new family of friends!

They are still close friends 15 years later. They call themselves the "Friends that toilet paper made"!
