Cool Maytag washer - Mine died and I'm glad!

We have had nothing but trouble with our Maytag washer (4 years old). Yesterday I again found pieces of metal from the washer in the tub after doing a load of clothes. We bought it in February, 2003, it malfunctioned and they replaced washer in May, 2003. In March, 2005, they replaced a seal and the cold water mixing valve. In April, 2005, they replaced the motor. In September, 2005, we had a loud knocking/shaking and metal pieces found in the tub after doing a load of laundry. They replaced the tub and the plastic top piece. Quite honestly, I'm glad it is out of here. This was the commercial duty washer, not the cheap one.

We got a plain GE washer at Home Depot for $369.00. No frills or anything and dh and I were just fine with that. We were both so glad to see that Maytag go - he asked me if I wanted to have target practice on it! I said only if it penetrates it - that is the only way I will have satisfaction! I told him I would learn to shoot a gun if I could shoot that $%#@! Maytag washer!

On the flip side, I have a Maytag washer and dryer that we bought 23 years ago USED.... still going strong. No problems with either.... I don't think they'll ever die.

I wouldn''t own a Maytag "anything" in today's world. It "USED" to be a good name, but not anymore.
