Question about my printer and the cable?

I need to buy a new, inexpensive printer. I noticed on walmart.com the cheapest ones do not come with a cable.

My question...

If I already have a cable for my Canon, can I use it in my new Lexmark printer? Or are they brand/item specific?

Thanks

Paulette

I found a photo of the cable on the Lexmark Printer page at Walmart.com: Belkin 6-Foot Gold USB Cable - Wal-Mart It looks like a standard USB cable.

Printer cables are usually universal. Most these days are USB. Hope this helps!

The other possibility would be a standard network (Cat 5) cable. This would be for if you have a home network that uses a router, and you'd attach your printer to the router so that any computer could use it. Otherwise, it doesn't apply, but it is handy in multi-computer setups.
