I know! If it wasn't Mother's Day, I would have told her how selfish and spoiled she sounded. "Mine Mine Mine!" LOL Good idea about selling other things...like the 350 Teddy bears that she has scattered around the house. OK, I need to stop now. The horns are coming out. Rebecca |

Rebecca I think I married your dh brother.. lol My mil did the same thing.. She had a bunch of star wars original characters that Jonathan played with when he was little. After his dad died we were cleaning out her house (packrat alert) Jon was so excited to see them and said he wanted to keep them..."Oh the hell you are she said.. I bought those and they are mine " she doesn't know how to ebay anything. So please tell me what she wants them for.. they are sitting in her basement now .. I often call her selfish..

Well, my MIL doesn't have a basement, but the rest fits! My MIL doesn't ebay either and is scared to use her credit card online, so she's going to have a tough time. Maybe we should set up a playdate for them and the Star Wars guys could ride in the Tonka trucks. Too Cool! Rebecca |

Those toys are your husband's! I have my boys' old Tonka trucks, die-cast cars and other things. I would never think of selling them. Those toys are my boys'. One day they'll want to pass them on to their kids. Speaking of people who take things that don't belong to them -- I had stored my sons' toys (GI Joes, GI Joe vehicles, Ghostbuster items at my parents' home in their basement when we first moved back to Virginia because we didn't have room at the time. I discovered that my nephew (who is married with kids) decided to clean out my parents' basement and he took all those toys to the county dump without even consulting me!! Needless to say, I was VERY upset! |

I'm 36 years old....and if there is anything of mine STILL at my parents house after all of these years, then frankly I've given up my rights to that stuff. I don't think it is right to use your parents house as a storage facility...and if it wasn't important enough for you to take with you when you moved out, then it isn't important for you to have now....no matter what it is worth. With that being said, if you have an agreement with your parents that you are storing something, much like Mom2twins2, with every intention of taking it back within a resonable time frame, then it is wrong for anyone to to touch your stuff. Sorry to hear that you lost your toys... |

Excellent point Kellii. I have never used my folks' place as storage since I moved out 25 years ago. However, the toys could have very easily gotten lost in the shuffle. I still really think that the mom would regret it if she sold them on eBay. They are gone FOREVER once you do that. My mom periodically finds some of my old toys and gives them to me. It is fun... I have them on a shelf on the nightstand next to my bed. Brings back fond memories of childhood. What mom doesn't want that for her children!? |
