I'm a slob. But my dh isn't, so it works out well.

I'm somewhere in between. Our house is lived in but not nasty. My kids keep their toys in their room and their room is by no means neat! But I keep the house vacuumed and dusted, the dishes washed, the bathrooms clean, etc. I make my bed every day....hate trying to get into bed at night if it's not made. So I'm not a neat freak but not totally a slob either.

I am a neat freak. I think I have OCD or atleast thats what my family tells me. I am very anal. If I sit somewhere and see a small spec of something on the carpet ( we have dark carpet so a lint ball will drive me nuts) I get up and vac the whole room. If I see a candle holder or nick nack turned or not in its spot it drives me nuts. I have to get up and straighten it. Even my can goods the labels all face out and they are put away by type ( all the corn in one row, all the soup in a row ) and god forbid don't put the soup in the corn row or the peas in the soup row I will tear apart the pantry and redo the whole thing. That being said. At work Im not anal at all I have papers all over my desk. If I go to someone elses house it doesn't bother me at all if they have stuff out or specs on their carpet. It just seems to be in my house it bothers me. Strange huh? |

I want you as a guest in my home to be able to walk in and tell that a family lives in it but, its well taken care of. We are just organized people so I think that makes it easier. Its all about moderation I believe.........sorry a commercial with Tom Sellack came on and I had to watch.....okay train of thought will leave you here.....I have two friends who are the two extremes. 1st is the friend who you feel like you have to sit perched on the edge of her couch because she doesn't want the leather creased, and then she will sweep the floor when you leave to make sure you didn't leave your tracks on the hardwood floors. 2nd friend is the friend whom you also sit perched on the edge of the couch b/c something might jump out of it and drag you into the cushions!! Neither one of these I would suggest you be like. Find a happy medium and keep it that way!!

I am a crazy neat freak! When the house is disorderly from the kids playing or DH not picking up, I honestly just can't function in that mess and I have to get it all put away and straightened up. I clean constantly and have a cleaning lady, but it could still be cleaner. I am a minimalist, I don't have clutter or any "stuff" either, but don't look in my closets! I take after my grandmother and my grandfather always said I was worse than she ever was.

I am both I guess. Most days I can't find my desk under mounds of paperwork, homeschool teaching work, coupons and "notes to myself". On the other hand, the rest of the house is spotless and I have vacuum lines on the floor. You can't tell that we have a cat and a rabbit--even though the rabbit is in her cage in our kitchen. Her cage gets cleaned 2x a day (yeah we took stock in cat litter. lol) Even the antiques get oiled daily. ![]() If you look in my closets, they are nice and neat and everything is hung left to right from lightest to darkest...all shirts are left facing (I guess that's OCD)

I am a neat freak. I think it drives my BF nuts LOL I will not leave my house for work in the morning unless the bed is made, the breakfast dishes are washed dried and put back (actually i hate the idea of ever having dishes left in the drain board ) the remotes for the tv, satilite box and vcr have to be lined up in that order on the left corner of my coffee table at all times, I have to dust, vacum, wash the floors and clean the bathroom every day. I am the same way with my cubicle at work. Everything has to be in its place. Now for the funny part, my BFs apt is the total opposite, its very I guess you would say lived in LOL and whenever I am there I have anxiety attacks, I cant sit still and its hard for me to sleep there cause i lay awake thinking of what I should be cleaning to get his place to look like mine and i also make his bed and put his remotes in order. I blame my mother for my complusion LOL Growing up my mother never cleaned (and neither did her mother) and my dad's mother raised me and she was a very neat and clean person so if i leave something out or a dish in the drain board all i think of is that the "mess" is gonna grow when I am at work and when I return home my house is going to look like my mother's and grandmother (her mother's) did. I know I am weird but i dont know how to stop

I guess I'm somewhere in the middle. There is always a hot spot or two smoldering on the desk or dining room table but the bathroom is always clean, my bed is always made, I vacuum at least once a day, the kitchen counters are without stain or crumbs. With personal hygiene however, I am a total neat freak, germaphobe (sp?), won't go out of the house in sweats or sneakers or without my hair fixed nicely kind of person.

I am kind of a slob too but have the desire to be more of a neat freak (not to the extreme though). Those of you that have that picture perfect house, how many hours a day do you clean? What's your secret for keeping the house tidy but not spend the whole day working at it?

I am much closer to a neat freak than a slob. I do not feel comfortable when my environment is in chaos. I prefer to clean up and take care of things then I can relax. Since we have bought this house I have had to ease up on some things. I used to be so bothered by dirty dishes in the sink but now we don't have a dishwasher so either I do dishes 70 times a day or I had to learn to live a few things in the sink. I don't like dust everywhere although I can't say my house is dust free. When you live in a rural area with no sidewalks and there is gravel, mud, grass there is bound to be some dust and dirt. Add to the equation two dogs, a cat, a man who is not so aware of what is on his shoes and you have the potential for a horrendous mess. I like the bed made, the coffee table to have everything a certain way. I like my drawers organized and no clothes and things laying around. I would not say I am not anal but I am anal about certain things.
